標記のstíck to (one's/the) gunsは「自分の立場を固守する,屈服しない」という意味のイディオムですが,「(たとえ反対にあっても )自分の立場,主張を曲げない」というのがポイントです。「ぶれない」という今風の言い方にも相通じるものがあるようです。起源は文字通り,何があっても銃を手放さないという兵士の心得からきたもの。元々はきな臭さの漂う表現ですが,個人的には高校の担任の口癖でもあったので(教科は数学),懐かしさもあります。(UG)
