triumvirate

(Koyamamotmo)

Mazda3 Skyactiv review
Can the latest C-segment car from Japan, the Mazda3, take on the might of the VW Golf and Ford Focus?
What would it take for you to buy a Mazda3 over that Golf or Focus?
Now in its third generation (the 3 picked up in 2003 where the 323 left off), this C-segment staple has been a quiet success story for the Japanese manufacturer, at least as far as global sales are concerned. More than 2.2 million examples of the first-generation car found homes worldwide, while the second arrived in 2009 and sold another 1.4 million units. Both were respected by those in the know for their mix of practicality, driving dynamics and reliability, and yet neither had much of an impact in the UK, where buyers seemingly find it hard to look past the obvious Ford, Vauxhall, Volkswagen triumvirate. Sales of the outgoing 3 have been sliding from a recent high of 11,000 in 2010 to just 5,800 last year.
