NHK considering replacing popular anchorwoman: sources
NHK is considering revamping its popular news program "Close-up Gendai" this spring, including replacing Hiroko Kuniya, who has been the show's anchorwoman for more than 20 years, broadcasting sources said Friday.
The change, if implemented, would mean Japanese viewers losing two of the most familiar faces of news programs in April, with TV Asahi Corp. having said at the end of last year that Ichiro Furutachi would be stepping down at his own request from the network's signature news show "Hodo Station," which he has anchored since April 2004.
