‘Bawling politician’ cries innocent in fraud trial

KOBE--Ryutaro Nonomura, a former prefectural assembly member who gained international notoriety for bawling hysterically at a news conference, pleaded innocent to fraud charges after being forced to the Kobe District Court on Jan. 26.

“I have never escaped paying back my dues through falsified payment reports,” the 49-year-old defendant said, facing the judges in the first hearing of his trial. “I may have made a mistake in the end, but I do not have specific memories for each of the things I did.”

この単語をLDOCEで調べてみると、“to cry noisily, especially in a way that annoys people”という定義が見つかりました。 (ninetails)
