pillow fights 復習
Pillow fights are practically ubiquitous among students getting ready for bed on school trips in Japan.
The students, who used to sleep in yukata on futons spread out across a large room in a ryokan inn, wait for the teacher to let down their guard before erupting almost spontaneously into the fights.
Now these pillow fights have even developed into a competitive sport.

今回取り上げるのは、“pillow fights” です。前期に静岡県伊東市で修学旅行で定番の「まくら投げ」で町おこしをはかる団体の記事を読みましたが、枕を使ってどう争うのか気になったのでネットで調べてみると、互いの体を枕で叩き会う「(こどもがやる)枕投げ合戦」を表しているといえます。
アメリカでは枕を剣に見立てチャンバラのように相手を「叩く」ことが “pillow fights”の定義とされているそうです。その一方でご存じのように日本では、枕を投げて相手に「ぶつける」 ことを “pillow fights” (枕投げ合戦) と認識しています。
米国では2007年から4月第一週の土曜日を “National Pillow Fight Day ” と制定し、それにあわせて毎年、世界各国で大規模な ”pillow fight” が行われています。その大会ではやはり枕を持って至近距離で相手を「叩く」種類のfightだそうです。(Hapidra)
