A tattooist will continue a legal battle for recognition of his occupation after the Osaka District Court found him guilty of tattooing without a medical license.
Taiki Masuda, 29, said he would appeal the Sept. 27 ruling that found him in violation of the Medical Practitioners Law.

exonerate /ɪgzάnərèɪt/ を取り上げます。弁護士が述べたという文脈から、「無罪にする」という意味だろうと予想しました。『ライトハウス英和辞典』（第5版 研究社）で引くと「（格式）（人）を無罪にする；（人）を（義務、責任などから）免除する（from）」とありました。
