美容院などサロンに行った時に、口コミをすると特別なサービスを受けられたり、ポイントを貯めることができるなど特典が付いてくることがあります。word of mouth以外「口コミ」の表現を知らなかったので調べてみました。
『英辞郎on the web』を見るとbush telegraphとあり、さらにOxford living dictionaryで定義を確認すると“A rapid informal network by which information or gossip is spread.”とありました。これは英略式な言い方で、オーストラリアの奥地(bush)では人伝えで通信を行なっていたことが語源だそうです。
