こちらタンザニアでは、結構多くの人がラジオを聞いています。
私の住むような村ではテレビなんてほとんどないのでラジオは大きな
娯楽の手段です。
ある日生徒に
「昨日日本のラジオを聞いた」と言われました。
「まさか〜。日本のが聞けるわけないよ。」
と言いましたが
それもみんな口ぐちにおれも聞いた、私も聞いたと言っています。
夜８時半から毎日やってるとのこと。
半信半疑でその日の８時半、生徒の言っていたチャンネルにラジオ
を合わせてみました。
としたところ、聞き覚えのある言語が流れてるではないですか。
日本語です。
そして日本語をスワヒリ語で教えています。
語り手は明らかに日本人ですが、彼はネイティブのようなスワヒリ語
を話します。
そしてエンディングソングとしてaikoの曲。
生徒が言っていたことはまさにほんとで、radio JAPANなるものが
こちらタンザニアで毎日やっていたのでした！
その発信源はNHK WORLD。
実はNHKは、radio JAPANのスワヒリ語放送をなんと1964年からタンザニアの
短波放送でやっていたそうです。
それが、今月2月1日からタンザニア全土のFMでオンエアされることになった
ようで、ラジオ（もしくは携帯）さえ持っていれば誰でも聞けるようになっ
たわけです。
（※タンザニアの携帯電話はほぼすべてラジオつき。）
おそるべしNHK。
というわけで、毎日日本の文化、童謡、日本語講座、日本食の作り方、最新の
曲だったりいう内容の放送がされています。
一度生徒とも一緒に聞きましたがその回の放送は桃太郎の話。
きびだんごをタンザニアのスナック「マンダジ」というものに取り換えて紹介
する配慮まで。
生徒はその話をおもしろいおもしろいと楽しんでおりました。

Here, many people often listen to radio.
In the countryside such as my village, most of people don't have TV and so
the radio fill the role of an entertainment for them.
One day, one of my students said to me,
"Yesterday, I listened to the Japanese radio."
"No way. It's impossible to listen to it here." I replied.
But, not only the one but also many students unanimously talked
about the Japanese radio.
They said it starts from 8:30 p.m. every day.
Dubiously, I tuned the radio to the channel that they told me on that day.
Then, I could hear the familar langage.
It was absolutely the Japanese.
A speaker was teaching the Japanese in Swahili language.
He spoke Swahili like a native though I could see he is a Japanese from
his Japanese pronunciation.
And at last a song of a Japanese famous pop singer, Aiko, was intoroduced.
So the radio JAPAN is on the air in Tanzania every day as my students said!
That radio is broadcasted by NHK WORLD,Nippon Housou Kyoukai, that is Japan
Broadcasting Corporation.
Actually it seemed that NKH has broadcasted the radio JAPAN in the shortwave since
1964 in Tanzania.
But the shortwave broadcasting was replaced by the FM broadcasting from this month,
February 1st.
Therefore, now all who have the radio or the mobile phone can have acccess to the
radio JAPAN.
(※Almost all the mobile phones in Tanzania have the radio.)
Everyday, we can listen to various kinds of topics such as the Japanese culter, classic
tale, Japanese lesson, Japanese pop songs, the way of cooking Japanese foods through
that radio.

sasa hivi" is written nearby on the list of introduction of what was broadcest in the
previous week.
