EGrammar Unit 3. 現在形と現在進行形のまとめ(1)
現在進行形 (the present continuous) と現在形 (the simple present)を対比しながらまとめます。後は特殊な例としてalwaysを使った文について。
しかし、こういう単純な所から始めていて、息切れしないか心配だ。息切れくらいで止める事などないけど。
現在進行形
- We use the present continuous for something that is happening at or around the time of speaking./ The action is not finished.
- Use the present continuous for temporaru situations.
- 例) I'm living with some friends until I find an apartment.
そのとき、あるいはその前後で起こっている事、まだ終わってないアクションに対してつかう。あと、例のように、一時的なシチュエーションに対しても使う。
現在形
- We use the simple present for thins in general or things that happen repeatedly.
- Use the simple present for permanent situations.
- 例) My parents live in Boston. They have lived there all their lives.
一般的な事、繰り返し起こる事に対して使う。あと、例のように、恒久的なシチュエーションに対しても使う。
I always do / I'm always doing
通常使うのは"I always do"の方。"I'm always doing"は異なった意味になる。
"You're always -ing" means that you do something very often, more often than the speaker thinks is normal or reasonable.
やり過ぎ、とかそう言うシチュエーション。これに関する問題文が面白かったので以下に掲載。
a) I'm afraid I've lost my key again.
b) Not again! You(re always losing your key.
a) Look ! You made the same mistake again.
b) Oh no, not again! I am always making the same mistake.
a) Oh, I forgot my books again.
b) That's typical! You are always forgetting your book.
Not again! That' typical! ともに、「もうするなよっ/またかっ/またかよっ」みたいな感じか。とりあえず、そう言うシチュエーションでよく使う言葉なんだと思う。

pain
痛み。苦痛。悩みの種。
What a pain. : いやだねー。
It's a pain. : 面倒くさい。
There is no end to the pain. : 苦しみの種は尽きない。
