This is a wonderful book about life long friendship. It makes
you hope you have these kind of friends from your elementary school days that continue through your entire adult life. You hope you have friends that feel this way about you from that time period.

Don’t read/listen to this if you have JUST lost a loved one. But after a couple years, DEFINITELY take the time, especially if your loved one was ill for several months or years. This story helps you reflect on good, positive, meaningful times. The author’s reading voice is so soothing and compassionate that you can’t help but feel a wave of peace and better acceptance of your loss. And in my case, it provides guidance as to how I might handle a future loss situation.

Bob Greene is an outstanding writer, and the way he carries you into his world of friendship and growing older is remarkable. This book taps on all one's memories of the past and good friends and special places. It makes you glad to be alive. You want to reach out and touch your special friends. I wonder why I wasted time with trivial stories of suspense and love when I could have been experiencing life through his eyes, his gentle reminders of every day things, of special people.
