We are living in a world full of games.
More than 31 million people in the UK are gamers.
The average young person will spend 10,000 hours gaming by the age of twenty-one.
The future belongs to those who play games.
In this ground-breaking book, visionary game designer Jane McGonigaI challenges conventional thinking and shows that games - far from being simply escapist entertainment - have the potential not only to radically improve our own lives but to change the world.

レビュー
An intriguing and thought-provoking book ― New Statesman
Despite her expertise, McGonigal's book is never overly technical, and as with a good computer game, anyone, regardless of gaming experience, is likely to get sucked in ― New Scientist
McGonigal is persuasive and precise in explaining how games can transform our approach to those things we know we should do. McGonigal is also adept at showing how good games expose the alarming insubstantiality of much everyday experience. McGonigal is a passionate advocate... Given the power and the darker potentials of the tools she describes, we must hope that the world is listening -- Tom Chatfield ― Observer
McGonigal brilliantly deconstructs the components of good game design before parlaying them into a recipe for changing the offline, 'real' world' ― Literary Review

I am happier and my life is more exciting.
Life is a game, a hard game, and so if it is possible,
break the boring and tedious reality and make it fun everyday.
The idea is simple: Games are fun and school is not, work is not. But looking through another point of view, games are really hard and challenging work. Well designed work that makes you want to do it forever if possible. What is right about games that we can bring to other spheres of knowledge to enhance our life system as a whole?
Can education be more fun? Public services? What is the limit between hours spent on games and real life? Those questions and much more are commented and explained in a intriguing way by the author.
If you are looking for innovation, I suggest that this book will bring you a new set of ideas that were so obvious that you never though about implementing them before.
For gamers, it is a ode to the game world and it is hard not to stop in the middle of a sentence to grab your controller and play a little bit.
Loved it and recommend it for anyone looking for the actual and next trend.
