This hard to find book presents a wealth of information about Shakespeare in a very "readable" format. Highly entertaining and interesting.

The Friendly Shakespeare - Really is Painless

If you teach High School and "The Bard" this is the perfect complimentary guide to William Shakespeare, his plays and sonnets. Written in plain English, it identifies plot outlines, important passages, humorous antidotes and rectifies false notions and events which, over time, have become "fact." If you don't teach, recommend this to anybody wanting to understand Shakespeare quickly and completely, even before you sit down and read Shakespeare formally. Excellent for teachers, students and those who have always wanted to understand Shakespeare - it really is painless.

Unlike Most Books on Shakespeare--A Very Easy Read

My daughter read this first, then passed it on to me. My mother is enjoying it now. This is not a dry, academic read examining Shakespeare's works (and not all works are discussed). Instead, it offers some overviews, comments by actors who have played the roles, interesting tidbits, stories, historical items, comments on the true-authorship debate, insights, and more. Very readable. If you have any affinity for Shakespeare, you should enjoy this book.
