It feels great to have some company in a lonely life, even if it's one-sided and with a shadowy man whom you can never know but only imagine through writing letters.
Join Judy in "Daddy-Long-Legs" by Jean Webster as she journeys through her college life and write letters about it to her mysterious benefactor. She can never know who he is, but it doesn't make her stop writing letters or wondering who he could possibly be.
With an epistolary framework meticulously capturing only one side of a conversation, the book showcases all the drama, emotions and wonders of an orphaned jubilant teenager embarking on a brand-new journey. And while Judy goes through the whirlwind of her new life, the readers are left to guess the identity of the mysterious Daddy-Long-Legs.
As Judy dives deeper into her journey, a subtle shift in tone can be noticed in the letters, hinting at the teenage mood swings as well as marking the protagonist's growth and tracing her development from a teenager to an adult.
