Jamie Oliver is a global phenomenon in food and campaigning. During a 19-year television and publishing career he has inspired millions of people to enjoy cooking from scratch and eating fresh, delicious food. Through his organization, Jamie is leading the charge on a global food revolution, aiming to reduce childhood obesity and improve everyone's health and happiness through food.

Jamie started cooking at his parents' pub, The Cricketers, in Clavering, Essex, at the age of eight. After leaving school he began a career as a chef that took him to the River Café, where he was famously spotted by a television production company and the Naked Chef was born.

He has now published 20 bestselling cookery books, all with accompanying TV shows. Jamie lives in London and Essex with his wife Jools and their children.

お野菜の切り方まで細かく写真で載せているページ迄あり、オドロキ！

英国の実力派若手シェフJamie Oliverはルックス抜群、
また彼の番組を見た方ならご存知だと思いますが、性格も
気さくでとても親近感をもてます。もちろんシェフとしての
腕前も'99年にブレア首相がイタリア首相を招いた昼食会のシェフに
抜擢されるほどの折り紙つき。顔のよさがきっかけで彼に興味を
持ち始めたというミーハーな方のために(私もそうでした(^_^;))
まずは彼の経歴の紹介から。
Jamie Oliver '75年5月27日イギリス・エセックスに生まれる。
8歳の頃から学校に通いながら、両親が経営するパブレストラン
「クリケッターズ」でアルバイトを始めた。16歳の時からロンドンの
ウエストミンスター・ケイタリング・カレッジに通い、正式に
料理を学んだ。そして、北フランス・イタリアでの修業を経て
ロンドンに戻り、イタリアン・レストランに1年勤めた後、
「リバー・カフェ」に移る。このカフェを取り上げたドキュメンタリー
番組に出演したのがきっかけで、イギリス国営放送BBCの料理番組
のパーソナリティーを務めることになる。それが、平均視聴率20％を
超えるという超人気番組、『The Naked Chef』―裸のシェフだ。
彼の料理を作る上で、特別な食材や器具を用意する必要は全く
ありません。また、量も大ざっぱ。ハーブをわしづかみにしたり、
レモンを手でギュッと絞ったり。説明も友達に話しかけるような
感じ。彼の本を読めば、自然と料理がしたくなるはずです☆

I am 'in between properties' so have everything in storage. I wanted a particular recipe from 'Jamie's Kitchen', couldn't find the book in local shops because it is quite old and not a lot of Jamie's books turn up in Charity Shops either! I could have looked for the recipe on-line (as I have many others during this 'in between' stage) however I wanted to spoil myself with a gift, so searched on Amazon for a 2nd hand copy. There were several, so I narrowed it down by checking up on the condition of the books and I am delighted with my purchase. It'll be my first 'moving in' gift to myself. P.S. The recipe was a huge success too!
