Disappointed!! the original unpublished essay of Orwell’s entitled British Cookery was complete with several recipes and these are not included in this book. Have already tried his recipe for ox kidney stew which I enjoyed despite not being a kidney lover and was looking forward to trying more.

OK, heads up, this is a Pocket Penguin - meaning it is about 56 pp long. Made up of 5 of Orwell's best essays. But, the bad part is, the title essay is only 3 pp long! That is 3 pp of about 56. So, if you're looking for Orwell on food as I was, this ain't it! the good news, these Pocket Penguins are charming, and it is always good to read some Orwell essays.
