Paul Ekman is Professor of Psychology at the University of California at San Francisco. He is the editor of Darwin and Facial Expression and The Nature of Emotion, and author of Telling Lies: Clues to Deceit in the Marketplace, Politics, and Marriage. He lives in San Francisco.

私が学生の時、精神病理学のクラスで岩波文庫の翻訳版を教材にしてたことがあります。なぜ首を横にふってノーの意思表示をするようになったのか、動物と人間の行動の類似てんなどです。当時岩波文庫の翻訳が読みにく苦労したものです、以後すっかり忘れていた本ですが、やっと原書が見つかったうれしいです。やっと時間ができましたので、これからじっくり改めて読んでいるところです。

Filiquarian Publishing, LLC版をamazonで購入しましたが、後悔しています。パブリックドメインのテキストを印刷しただけのものでした。それならば、ネットで検索してプリンターで打ち出した方がまだましです。

テキストファイルのまま、シングルコーテンションマークも、起こしも閉じも直していないものです。印刷して出版する意味があるのかが疑問です。

What I disliked about the book is the fact that none of the illustrative plates are included though they are referred to in the text. It seems like the publishers were just too cheap to put in the illustrations.
