Mr. Kashner certainly seems to have done his homework. This was a very interesting, fascinating read, from the first page. I read it almost straight through, and actually finished it, which is more than I can say for many books I've had.
Times were certainly different back in the fifties, and today, financial problems would probably have been the last thing that George Reeves would have had to worry about.
As it was, he had to constantly struggle, which was a big part of why he found himself in a subservient position with the woman who he was romantically involved with, who ended up being the one who ultimately killed him.
"Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned," which we've all heard, and which is very true, unfortunately.
Sort of like, "Come into my parlor, said the spider to the fly." Or, "Damned if you do, and damned if you don't."
In other words, a man can't win, when it comes to what women have on their mind, no matter what he may have on his.
Anyway, this was an absorbing subject, and totally held my interest, from start to finish.
Poor George. Superman was doomed, it seemed, every way he turned.

So many books, films, and articles pull people in by asking if George Reaves was really murdered and then let everyone down by saying Reaves' death really was a suicide and not enough evidence proves the murder theory. But anyone who has read news about Reaves' death can tell you the opposite is true. More evidence supports the murder theory. He was shot with an oiled gun that had no fingerprints. Bullets were found in the floor and ceiling of his room. No complete autopsy was ever performed by the coroner. A gunshot and tires screeching from a car speeding away were heard by neighbors at the time of the death. Bruises were on the body from when Reeves died. Phyllis Coates (Lois Lane) recieved a phone call telling her Reaves had been murdered early the next morning before his death became public. This book not only gives an accurate account of how a hit man probably murdered Reaves but supports it with facts. It's too bad it wasn't published sooner than after all those involved had died.

This book gives answers to the mystery of the death of a great and gracious man. It proves that George Reeves was murdered, and ends once and for all the lie of his alleged suicide. After reading this book, I did some additional research, spoke with Ed Lozzi, who was Toni Manix's caregiver for the last two years of her life. He was there when she made a deathbed confession to her priest that she personally order the murder of this man, because he left her for another woman. He tried to get the Los Angeles coroner to change the cause of death, but they refused because there was no court official or police officer present during her confession. It seems that the entertainment industry is as corrupt as the police department in that area. Even so, It is a huge relief to FINALLY see justice begin to emerge for the man who taught an entire generation to seek after truth and justice.

This book does a pretty good job of covering the personal life and career of George Reeves, the star of my all time favorite TV series, The adventures of SUPERMAN... and yes, as written by another reviewer, a lot of it is supposition based on fact--- but the author makes a VERY, VERY convincing case based on all the circumstantial evidence put together that Reeves was indeed MURDERED and did NOT commit suicide. Many would argue, but I am last convinced.
