著者について

Stan and Jan Berenstain were both born in 1923 in Philadelphia. They didn't know each other as children, but met later at school, at the Philadelphia College of Art. They liked each other right away, and found out that the both enjoyed the same kinds of books, plays, music and art. During World War II, Stan was a medical assistant in the Army, and Jan worked in an airplane factory. When the war was over, they got married and began to work together as artists and writers, primarily drawing cartoons for popular magazines. After having their two sons Leo and Michael, the Berenstains decided to write some funny children's books that their children and other children could read and enjoy. Their first published children's book was called The Big Honey Hunt. It was about a family of bears, who later became known as the "Berenstain Bears."

Stan and Jan planned all of their books together. They both wrote the stories and created the pictures. They continued to live outside of Philadelphia in the country. There are now over 300 Berenstain Bears books.

一人は懐中電灯を、一人は杖を、一人はロープを持って出発
です。

着いた先には、お化けが出そうな古くて怖～い木。3人は勇気
を振り絞って中に入ります。
中に入って進んでいき、古い階段を通り、秘密の部屋を通り、
その先で出会ったのは…。

子どもが読めば、結構ドキドキワクワクの連続だと思います。
使われている表現は、シンプルな英語の繰り返し。音読や読み
聞かせにも好適です。

25年前に読んでいた絵本。懐かしくて購入し久しぶりに読みましたが、わかりやすくて、楽しくて、ハラハラドキドキ！小学生から大人まで楽しめます。

The conditions were excellent! Actually, I had really needed them. I prefered the hard cover book to the paper book for smaller kids.
Hopefully, I have wanted to get them earlier. It took longer days than I had expected to get these books. Anyway, thank you very much.

「Ｂｅａｒｓ　ｉｎ　ｔｈｅ　Ｎｉｇｈｔ」
と合わせて大好きです。

同じ単語や文章の繰り返し。
優しい単語。
のおかげで英語が苦手なママでも安心して読み聞かせができます。

Ｂｅａｒが分かってるくらいのレベルの子ですが、
絵の雰囲気や絵から読み取るストーリ展開、文章のリズムで
お気に入りになるようです。

Rather as Dr. Seuss did, the Berenstains wrote and illustrated books that have an immediate appeal for very young children - I have read them successfully to children as young as 20 months - and are also very effective as first or very early readers. This one is not quite as simple linguistically as 'Old Hat, New Hat' or 'Bears in the Night', but it works on the same principle - a very simple story, lively illustrations, some repetition and a happy ending. Three bears venture into the old spooky tree, greatly daring, and find out what lurks there. For the audience at which it is aimed it is excellent, and to those who have the pleasure of reading to very little people, it is a welcome addition to the library.
