しっかりした箱に薄い冊子が12冊も入っていて、気軽だし内容は浅いので、
寝る前にちょっとだけ読むことが可能な絵本です。負担にならずに良いです。

ドーラは水戸黄門のようなわかりやすい内容なので、
英語初心者の小学生男児でもぜんぜん抵抗なく入れます。
男の子っぽい主人公なのも良いなと思います。
絵ももちろん全てカラーで、自然とフォニックスも学べるのですが、
最初はわかりづらいかなとは思います←知らない単語だらけで。
でも根気よく教えつつ読み聞かせているとだいぶ内容がつかめてきます。
が、本当に英語初心者の場合は、もっと簡単な赤ちゃん用の洋書から始めるといいと思います。

12冊から選ばせると言うのも
子供に主導権があるように仕向けられるところも良いです♪

【良かった点】
2歳になる娘はドーラが大好き!!寝る前に読んでくれと持ってきます。
中の絵が大きく、色遣いが可愛いので気に入っているようです。
英文は、英語中級レベルに達しない私でも読めるので、
子供に読んであげることができます。
構文も短いので、ある程度英語ができるお子様には向いていると思います。

【困った?点】
phonicsなので発音を学ぶための本なのですが、英語中級レベルに達しない
私が読み聞かせて良いのか心配です（笑）
発音を学ぶために購入されるより、絵本として楽しむために買った方が
良いのではないかな〜と思いました。

１２冊入ってこのお値段はとてもお値打ちだと思います。
ケースにびっちり収まるのでバラバラにならないし，
年長でも自分で読める語彙数，内容なので，
待ち時間のためなどに持ち歩くのにぴったりだと思います。

12冊の絵本は1冊が8ページで飽きることなく、すんなり読めます。しかも娘には毎晩寝る前のベッドタイムストーリーとして使っていますが、2，3回で覚えてしまう勢いです。

その中でフォニックスも取り入れられているので一石二鳥です。これはすごい！！！

段ボール紙で出来ているとってつきのバッグにペーパーバックのうすぺライドーラの本が12冊入っています。
箱はかなり頑丈で、2歳になったばかりの娘は（ドーラの大ファン）普段なんでも壊してしまうのですが、これは大丈夫そうです。本をバッグに入れて家中をうろうろし”D,D,D,d,d,Dora!"と歌っています。
肝心な内容は、一冊ずつ各見開き8ページにカラフルなドーラの絵と短くドーラが普段よく言いそうな台詞があります。1冊ずつちゃんとストーリーがあって、フォニックスを意識しなくても十分楽しめます。
フォニックスは、BOOK1から順番に、短母音のA,I,O,U,E,接尾音のE,　CH/SH・TH/WH,数えられる名詞の複数形、長母音のA,I,E,Oという風です。
中には良く出来ている本もあり、過去のエピソードも垣間見れて、楽しいと思います。
この値段ですから、ドーラファンには絶対買いの一冊だと思いますよ！！

12冊入ってて、それぞれがきちんとお話になっています。
フォニックスの読みを意識した文章を作ってあるのでしょうが、
普通の絵本としても、楽しめます。

My 2 year old adores Dora and these books are his absolute favorite, and have been for about 2 months now. I, on the other hand, find the 'stories' a little lame and I got tired of reading them fairly quickly but hey, its all about the little ones isn't it!!

the only way these can work as a beginner reader set is if your child is a very very good beginner reader or gifted and picks up on reading quickly. Otherwise these would be way too hard for a beginner reader, just learning to read. If you have a 1st or 2nd grader already reading and can read books like Biscuit and Are You My Mother by Dr. suess, then these may be the books for you. It is a pretty good price for 12 books, but keep in mind they only have 8 pages of actual reading, the other 8 pages are pictures only, So each time you turn the page, one side of the page is reading on white back ground and the otherside is a colored picture.

Goes like this for the book Snowy Day:
Page 1, It is a snowy day!
It is so cold that
the river froze.
We can go skating.

Page 2
whoa!
It is so slippery!
We need to go slow
so we don't fall down.
uh-oh!
Hold on, Boots!
I'm coming.

Page 3
whew!
That was close.
We both almost fell.
Brrrr..
When the wind blows
I am cold.
Let's go home.

Page 4
Oh, no!
Map shows that
the road home
goes over the Grumpy Old

We bought this for our four year old who is able to read well.We have two sets of Oxford Reading Tree books which she has read and thought we would add to her collection with something different.
She was a bit overawed at first as it seems at first there are more words per page than the Oxford ones. Once she realised it was a different format (Oxford have the writing under the pictures and Dora has it on the facing page) that was okay. At the moment they are fine for her as she is reading phonetically but later on when she is noticing spelling it may be a problem as they are american spellings (missing out the letter 'u' etc).
Our daughter loves the stories although for adults they may be a bit strange as they are written to incorporate phonic sounds such as short 'i' or long 'a'.
Overall a fun way to read together.
