Alex Cross must face the world's most dangerous agents, criminals, and assassins. The fate of the world rests in his hands.
In broad desert daylight, a mysterious platoon of soldiers evacuates the entire population of Sunrise Valley, Nevada. Minutes later, a huge bomb detonates a hundred feet above the ground and lays waste to homes, cars, and playgrounds: a town annihilated in an instant. The Russian supercriminal known as the Wolf claims responsibility for the blast.
Alex Cross is on vacation in San Francisco with his girlfriend, Jamilla Hughes, when he gets the call. World leaders have just four days to prevent an unimaginable cataclysm. Racing down the hairpin turns of the Riviera in the most unforgettable finale James Patterson has ever written, he confronts the truth of the Wolf's identity, a revelation that even Cross himself may be unable to survive.

One can forgive the weak, simplistic writing, especially for books that are easily read in airports and on planes; but even easy books should make sense, with a plot line that is discernibly interconnected, with point b following logically from point a, and with characters who don't just pop up out of the blue without foreshadowing or clues as to they're fitting in. But this book is full of so much deus ex machina, it reminded me of the intervention of Greek gods whenever their favorite characters got into trouble back in Troy or on Odysseus's journey back to Greece. To put it mildly, Patterson constantly stretches credibility in this book to the point that he insults our intelligence (and, for that matter, so does the publisher for allowing this book to be published and for burning us for the price). Skip it, and read‾Giorgio Kostantinos‾The Quest. instead.

This novel is the worst novel I have ever read. The plot doesn`t make the slighest sense, with even shallower characters, like thousands pages randomly put together as a book. You can find holes in almost every page. Alex Cross` last novel? Sounds like James Patterson is running out of inspiration. You haven`t read this? Well, you are not missing anything.

Once again, Patterson outdid himself. A bit less about his family, with the reader learning more about Cross. Definitely kept y attention and kept me reading. You will enjoy more Cross, as did I

The new Alex Cross, FBI, in the middle of the biggest plot yet - with massive international consequences. There’s a lot chasing from one crisis location to another and plenty of characters along the way. An exhausting but very satisfying read.

Give me a break

Either Patterson wrote this novel under the impression of the 2001 attack on the WTCenter or … under the influence of drugs. The plot is just … weird … The enemy, The Wolf, is always ahead, knows everything, is always prepared, has unlimited resources, kills who he wants etc. etc. James Bond or Ethan Hunt would probably crack up if they read LONDON BRIDGES in their movies, shaking their heads.
That’s one side of the story but then … it’s fiction and in fiction anything is allowed and possible. Under these terms the book is brilliant. The reader suffers with Alex, hunts with him, hopes with him and anxiously awaits the victory. Strange is, that sometimes minor things - like erotic encounters with Jamilla - are described in every detail but important events - like Alex killing The Weasel - are not followed up upon. Or why the mighty Wolf in the end mimics a bodyguard for a Mafyia boss which leads to his death.
Great book, but … give me a break. 😌😅
