I owned this book when it first came out in the 80s and it is now lost in a move and I am replacing it. I can honestly say there was not one recipe in that book I didn't love...something as simple as a blueberry buckle was the best I've ever had. The coconut cake not only amazing but better if made the day before.
What made this book stand out for me was how I tried and loved things I had previously said I didn't like. I didn't even like blueberries the first time I made the buckle and now I would turn most everything else away to choose it. I liked coconut but I would never think to make the coconut cake and it just blew my mind.
These are unpretentious recipes, down home comfort food done the best I've ever seen. It negates the need for any other book on desserts, especially if your trying to impress. As a chef, I have looked for and purchased many dessert books over the decades but this is the ONE dessert book to own and no one as of yet has been able to beat it.

I was apprehensive about buying a used book sight unseen, but I have been looking for this cookbook for 13 years since my last one stayed with my ex-wife..lol.. this book has only been used as a coaster for a glass..brand new inside!!! It will stay in my selective cookbooks collection along with my own..you can trust this seller to deliver great finds
