"Still Alice" Lisa Genova
The novel gave me important lessons.
1 Alzheimer is hereditary. Not only you but your children may inherit the disease.
2 Initially it's too hard to admit you have one, and you need courage to confess the fact to your family, especially for an intelligent person like Alice, who is a professor at Harvard, a mother of three children, seemingly leading a perfect life.
3 It's heartbreaking how fast the disease is taking over her. You forget things, first it is something like where you put your cellphone, or the names of your acquaintances. As time goes by, you can't even remember the name of your own daughter.
4 Alice establishes a gathering of patients with early-onset dementia. It's a good idea that patients can share their difficulties and chat over coffee.
5 Last but not least, the cordial support by family and friends is essential to get along with the incurable disease. Even though Alice is losing her memories, she is loved and cared, and she should be.
Reading this kind of book is important in that we can think of any possibilities that can happen to us and get prepared for them.

This book was part of a birthday gift for a friend. I searched bookstores online for it and could not locate it, although it is a very popular book. Ordering from Amazon was more efficient for me to get it.
