Michael Gelb's How to Think Like Leonardo Da Vinci is an inspiring and inventive guide that teaches readers how to develop their full potential, using the principles of Da Vincian thought identified by the author.
Beginning with a brief historical biography of Da Vinci and an overview of the astounding advances made in the arts and sciences during the Renaissance, Gelb illustrates the seven fundamental elements of Da Vinci's thought process:
Questionare: A questing, insatiably curious approach to life Dimostrazione: A commitment to test knowledge through experience Sensazione: The continual refinement of the senses, especially sight, as the means to clarify experience Sfumato: A willingness to embrace ambiguity, paradox and uncertainty Arte/Scienza: The development of the balance between science and art, logic and imagination. "Whole-brain" thinking Corporalita: The cultivation of ambidexterity, fitness and poise Connessione: A recognition and appreciation for the interconnectedness of all things and phenomena. "Systems" thinking.
Loaded with practical exercises, quotes, sidebars, illustrations and material drawn directly from Da Vinci's personal notebooks, How to Think Like Leonardo Da Vinci is both a tribute to his great achievements and a call to carry on his legacy in our everyday lives by utilizing our potential to the best of our ability.
From the Hardcover edition.

The author does not provide us the way to be a genius. It is good because I do not believe I can be a da Vinci. Da Vinci was multi-talented, and each field of his talent is functionally interwoven, this book says, and by scrutinizing the works of the genius we can get access to fields we are not familiar with. Art is not in my line, or so I have thought for a long time. But if any field of work cannot be independent, and what is needed is a set of simple steps, now would be the time to buy a new brush. Every chapter is abundant with hints of the way to cultivate the untouched area of our land.

The book serves as a profound tribute to Leonardo, yet upon reflection, I discovered that his actions weren't entirely unfamiliar to me. It dawned on me later that I could relate to him. Carrying a notebook became a relatable concept, and jotting down all my questions made me realize I wasn't alone, even though those around me deemed it eccentric. I found connection in certain aspects, and Leonardo da Vinci's quotes, such as "I do not wish to divulge or publish this because of the evil nature of men," resonated powerfully, opening up a different perspective for me. I cherish this book not only for its wealth of information and illustrations but also for the author's insightful perspective.

The book shows you seven principles that you can apply to your life with a series of exercises that are within the book.
Each principle is explained by the analysis of the life of Leonardo da Vinci.
I recommend this book to everyone that want to find how to improve their lifes and for people who want to find a purposefully life.
