著者について

Tiffany Strelitz Haber has eaten fried bugs, jumped out of airplanes and lives for adventures. She grew up in NYC, but is now located in central NJ with her incredible husband and their two hilarious and amazing little boys.

Kirstie Edmunds lives near the woods with her husband, Jonathan, and their two tomato plants, Tom and Frank. She was born in Wales, the land of the red dragon, and moved to London to go to art school. Though she's never seen a monster, Kirstie loves to paint them.

All I can say is, what a delightful book! The Monster Who Lost His Mean has everything a great picture book should have: a fun story, engaging illustrations, and a subtle underlying message that gives it real meaning in addition to entertainment value. The story is about a Monster who loses his one-of-a-kind M (thereby making him an Onster.) This change in identity is a struggle for him - how can he grow comfortable with this new version of himself? Young readers will be able to relate to his struggle - we have all had occasion at one time or another to want to reinvent ourselves a bit, but it's hard to buck existing expectations - both our own and those of the people around us. What the Onster realizes, though, is that this new identity belongs to him - he's not changing so much as discovering who he really is. There is a lesson for all of us here about having the courage to recognize and embrace our true selves. The story is told in verse with impeccable rhyme and meter - a pleasure to read aloud - and the illustrations are SO engaging! Bright, colorful, expressive - that little green Onster is impossible to resist. This is one your little ones will demand again and again, and you'll be happy to comply :) Highly recommended!

Fantastic children's book hugely recommended for the graphics the characters are detailed by the illustrator it's like watching a film. All I have to say is by the book by Kirstie Edmunds (artist) it's worth every penny.

This is a really great book. It not only does a great job showing a word with the M sound and then how you say it once the M is taken away (Monster then Onster after he's lost his M - great when teaching letters and beginning reading) but also at teaching behavioral lessons! The monster lost his ability to be mean and then found he was actually far happier with lots of friends. This book is a win win from a parent or teacher stand point.

That said, while my kids did like this book and did ask for it a couple times, it wasn't one of their top 5 because it doesn't make them laugh - but they're tough book critics! We read a lot of different books.
