A good study of an incredible architect, Mies Van Der Rohe is captured in this book as I've not seen in some of the other works. Perhaps that's because the author is also an award winning architect. The book itself was put out by the New York Museum of Modern Art in 1953 and it has 200 beautiful, crisp images showing the clean lines that Van Der Rohe was known for. By emphasizing open space and revealing the industrial materials used in construction, he helped define modern architecture. No distractions in his design, his could be called "skin and bones" architecture. Mies sought to create free and open spaces, enclosed within a structural order with minimal presence and the results are truly beautiful and elegant. This is an excellent book for any lover of architecture who wants to understand more about the man and his work.
