The Critique of Pure Reason (Great Books in Philosophy) ペーパーバック – 1990/5/1
英語版
Immanual Kant
(著)
Metaphysicians have for centuries attempted to clarify the nature of the world and how rational human beings construct their ideas of it. Materialists believed that the world (including its human component) consisted of objective matter, an irreducible substance to which qualities and characteristics could be attributed. Mindthoughts, ideas, and perceptionswas viewed as a more sophisticated material substance. Idealists, on the other hand, argued that the world acquired its reality from mind, which breathed metaphysical life into substances that had no independent existence of their own.
These two camps seemed deadlocked until Immanuel Kant's Critique of Pure Reason endeavored to show that the most accurate theory of reality would be one that combined relevant aspects of each position, yet transcended both to arrive at a more fundamental metaphysical theory. Kant's synthesis sought to disclose how human reason goes about constructing its experience of the world, thus intertwining objective simuli with rational processes that arrive at an orderly view of nature.

著者について
IMMANUEL KANT, born in Königsberg, East Prussia (in what is now Kaliningrad, Russia), on April 22, 1724, was reared by parents who were members of the Lutheran sect known as Pietists. Though his upbringing was religious, Kant did not find himself subjected to a dogmatic or doctrinaire home environment. After completing his early education at the Collegium Fridericianum, he entered the University of Königsberg in 1740 at the age of sixteen. Though it was originally thought that he would make the ministry his life’s pursuit, Kant took the minimum number of required courses in theology and then dedicated himself to philosophy, mathematics, and physical science. During the years between 1746 and 1755 he worked as a private tutor in an effort to support himself through graduate work after the death of his parents left him without financial assistance. Receiving his doctorate in 1755, he taught at the University of Königsberg for fifteen years until 1770 when he was finally promoted to Professor of Logic and Metaphysics. Kant held this position until his death on February 12, 1804.
Among Kant’s most important philosophical works are: The Critique of Pure Reason (1781), Prolegomena to Any Future Metaphysics (1783), Idea for a Universal History (1784), Fundamental Principles of the Metaphysic of Morals (1785), Metaphysical Foundations of Natural Science (1786), Critique of Practical Reason (1787), Critique of Judgment (1790), Religion within the Limits of Reason Alone (1793), Perpetual Peace (1795), Metaphysics of Ethics (1797), and Anthropology from a Pragmatic Point of View (1798).

Really Good Edition by Dover

This is the most readable Kant translation I have read. It is really helping me to better understand Kant. It is also lightweight and portable for anytime anywhere reading. This is in regard to the Meiklejohn translation published by Dover. It is the second edition of the critique. It lacks the translators preface. But it really is a bargain for the price.

mobi version

This book is both long and dense, and that is putting it lightly. As usual, the mobi version of this book for Kindle has a fully linked table of contents, but each and every footnote throughout the book is a link as well. In most cases I wouldn't make a deal of this, but for this book in particular the feature is indispensable. You can quickly jump to the footnote, then press back and jump right back to the page you were reading. In regard to the table of contents being linked to each and every little section of this book, one might call it excessive, but I prefer to call it "thorough."
In short, this version is perfect to have for referencing specific sections or even for a full reading of Kant's Critique of Pure Reason.

Only £5 though it is an old translation from about 1850

Though there is a free online version, this is a good quality book slightly larger than expected at 100 pages. It does omit prefaces, and notes and probably based on the first edition. I found all pages numbered, not really that much different in what it is from the Cambridge edition which is 700 pages with many small italics that compare hand notes and both editions with notes saying that this question mark was added to the second edition which hardly affects the meaning of the sentence.
The Critique of Pure Reason Paperback – 1 Oct 2011
by Immanuel Kant (Author), J.M.D. Meiklejohn (Translator
Though the book seems complex in an argumentive way i.e with many chapter titles looking at things a prior in many different perspectives and angles. Pure reason does bring God into the equation for God thinks without the senses. Even programming is a form of pure reasoning like maths or physics especially with the interest in A.I meaning non sensual reasoning.
Though not really too bad a translation as many would suggest though not as smooth and detailed as the Cambridge edition, but this translation was looked at and not ignored by the Cambridge edition. Not really as bad as other reviews have hinted....for the price though spend more to get the best version which is Werner S. Pluhar at 10 times the size and fits better in the chronology of Kant to Schopanhauer to Nietzsche to Bowie.
