These sudokus are supposed to be suitable for a sudoku novice or sudoku grandmaster - this is simply NOT true. While the patterns are quite amazing the sudokus themselves are mostly very easy.
I tried a few puzzles and kept jumping forward to look for a difficult puzzle. Reasonably quicky I decided to try puzzle 120 and found an advances technique - a Y-wing. Moving back through the puzzles as far as puzzle 112 I needed to only use an XYZ-wing, an Empty rectange and 2 more Y-wings to solve these puzzles.
If you are looking for some testing puzzles I suggest you look elsewhere - there are many available on the internet if you look carefully. If you are a beginner then this book is suitable and fun.

These puzzles are beautifully designed. They progress in difficulty in a step-like

Very enjoyable standard sudoku book. I now truly understand the difference between a handmade puzzle and everything else. These puzzles are beautifully designed. They progress in difficulty in a step-like, gradual way. Each puzzle has a lesson to teach the solver. The book is standard paperback sized. Good paper. Glued binding. Good grid size. Three cheers for quality handmade puzzles.

Excellent collection of hand-made puzzles
2013年3月22日にアメリカ合衆国でレビュー済みAmazonで購入
This book presents 120 hand-made puzzles varying in difficulty from moderate to very difficult. Few, if any, are what I would call extreme, but I consider this a good thing since it means that all the puzzles can be solved by logically working through the possibilities rather than ever having to make guesses. To really appreciate the hand-made nature of these puzzles, you should try solving them not only without guessing but without making notations of the possibilities for each cell which can't be determined in a straightforward manner. The first 20-30 can be readily done this way and won't seem much different, or more interesting, than computer-generated puzzles. Beyond this point, however, difficult puzzles become more common and the hand-generated nature of the logical problems you have to solve make the puzzles that much more interesting if you're trying to do it all in your head.
I was able to solve about half of the puzzles in this manner without making notations. Of the ones remaining, there were about half that I felt I might have been able to solve that way if I had enough experience and patience. The rest of the puzzles were ones I simply could not have solved without notations, but most of those still ended up being more interesting than the typical computer-generated puzzle in working through to the solution.
You should be warned, however, that the title and cover can be a bit deceptive. Although the puzzles create regular patterns with the given numbers, the art isn't in the appearance of the puzzles (they're all in black and white) but in the way the author creates a variety of logical patterns needed to solve them.

Great classic

Snyder decided to become a publisher himself and The Art of Sudoku is the first product under Grandmaster Puzzles publication. The book contains 120 classic sudokus.
Now, you might think a book of classic sudokus has already been done before. In fact, it's been done to death.
You can even get a bigger oversized book for less money per puzzle. But what you can't get in those lackluster books are individual qualities in each puzzle. Flipping through the pages, your eyes will rest on interesting patterns like spirals, boxes, circles, smiley face and so on. On closer inspection, you'll notice that the two boxes contain the exact same number in the exact same places! Or that the given odd numbers are on one side and the given even numbers are on the other! Or hold on, those string of numbers are consecutive!
And that's not all these puzzles have to offer. Once you start penciling in the digits, the solving path is quite beautiful as well. I've solved a lot of sudokus (both casually and competitively) and have to say that a lot of the gimmicks I found were original to this book. The only comparison I can make is the Nikoli's Sudoku Communication quarterly magazine.
And what does the two have in common? Both are 100% handmade.

Nice puzzles, but too easy
2012年6月19日にアメリカ合衆国でレビュー済みAmazonで購入
These Sudoku puzzles have interesting patterns of start numbers, but most of them are too easy. The puzzles in the last third of the book are a good challenge; the rest you might as well skip over.
