We have been using this book for about a month now in our senior design project to create a real UFDF systems model for protein concentrations near the solubility limit. This book has been very helpful in getting some of the basic equations setup and giving us a good place to start on the rest of the design we needed to do.
We have used it build a very nice mass transfer model that has nearly all assumptions about many things being constant removed like membrane resistance, mass transfer coefficient, viscosity etc. If you are trying to do filtration simulations for production applications this book is very useful.
The one drawback we found is that the MATLAB code is not the greatest quality, which the author even admits at the beginning, and there is a lot of stuff you will want to do to improve the code. Some of the code also has errors in it and so you will want to use it as a place to start but make sure the equations you intend to model are the ones you have actually put in.

Focusing on the application of membranes in an engineering context, this hands-on computational guide makes previously challenging problems routine. It formulates problems as systems of equations solved with MATLAB, encouraging active learning through worked examples and end-of-chapter problems. The detailed treatments of dead-end filtration include novel approaches to constant rate filtration and filtration with a centrifugal pump. The discussion of crossflow microfiltration includes the use of kinetic and force balance models. Comprehensive coverage of ultrafiltration and diafiltration processes employs both limiting flux and osmotic pressure models. The effect of fluid viscosity on the mass transfer coefficient is explored in detail, the effects of incomplete rejection on the design and analysis of ultrafiltration and diafiltration are analysed, and quantitative treatments of reverse osmosis and nanofiltration process analysis and design are explored. Includes a chapter dedicated to the modelling of membrane fouling.

A very good introduction to membrane filtration which discusses basic concept. It is recommended for chemical engineering for process simulation and modelling of membrane processes.
