The biggest no-no is the minute size of the "figures" that show code examples.

The book should be PULLED until this is sorted.

I learned many details about JavaFX from reading this book. I do work closely with the JavaFX development team, but there are facets to using the JavaFX platform that can only come from end users who are pounding on the code every day. The authors of this book bring their real world examples to their instruction, and they give developers practical information to help them develop with JavaFX. Their expertise spills from the covers of the book--They are all very approachable and willing to answers questions via email and blogs.

They have done a nice job of chunking the material into logical units that progress nicely as you work through each Chapter. The material is ordered from beginning topics to more advanced topics. You can read this book from cover to cover, or you can use it as a quick reference. I'm keeping my copy in my laptop bag so I always have it with me!

Wenn man fast alles über JavaFX wissen möchte, ist man mit diesem Buch an der richtigen Stelle. Voraussetzung ist aber, dass man die Sprache Java beherrscht, weil viele Vergleiche gezogen werden. Dafür gehen die Autoren dann in viele Details und halten sich an grundlegenden Sprachelementen auf.

Allerdings wird es wieder das Problem geben, dass im Kopf des Anwenders zu viel falsch in das Deutsche übersetzt wird. An jeder Ecke des Buches wird von JavaFX Script gesprochen. Aber JavaFX hat nichts mit einer Scripting Sprache zu tun, geschweige denn mit JavaScript. JavaFX wird in Bytecode compiliert (wie Java) und nutzt damit auch die Vorteile des Hotspot Compilers der VM.

Das Buch ist auf jeden Fall zu empfehlen und das z.Z. aktuellste zu JavaFX 1.2.

un excelente libro, muy bien estructurado y sobre todo bastante claro, trae muchos ejemplo y sus respectivas explicaciones de tal forma que cualquier persona con conocimientos básicos de Java lo podrá entender de inmediato, el orden de los temas facilita el aprendizaje de principiante a avanzado

This book was written in 2008, and there have been monumental changes in the code style and syntax since then. I would recommend that you find a similar title that is two or less years old, to save a lot of grief in trying to write any JavaFX code. I am not criticizing the author or his writing style; it is just out of date.
