Zunächst das grundsätzliche:

"Autumn Nightmares" ist von der Aufmachung und den enthaltenen Illustrationen ansprechend, übersichtlich gestaltet und in sich sinnvoll gegliedert.

Die kurzen Ingame-Texte zu den Kapitel Anfängen sind reizvoll und mehr oder minder spannend.

"Autumn Nightmares" beschäftiegt sich mit den Antagonisten, auf die man in einer Changeling-Chronik treffen kann. Dabei werden Menschen, Changelings und andere Wesen in jeweils seperaten Kapiteln behandelt. Neben Beispielantagonisten findet man viele Informationen zum Gestalten von Antagonisten(sowie auch NPCs, sowie eine Beschreibung von möglichen Motivationen. Gerade die Tatsache, dass diese Motivationen wirklich verständlich und nachvollziehbar sind macht einen großen Reiz des Buches aus, man hat nicht einfach nur gesichtslose "Gegner", sondern Personen mit ihren eigenen Gründen, Fehlern und Stärken.

Der beste Teil des Buches findet sich meiner Meinung nach im Kapitel zum Thema "Fetch", denn hier wird er nicht nur als persöhnlicher Rivale eines jeden Spielers, sondern auch als weitaus mehr beschrieben. An alle Spieler ist gedacht, so finden sich hier z.B. neue "Milestone-Merits", die man je nahdem unter welchen Umständen der Fetch stirbt erhalten kann, aber auch die Möglichkeit, wie schon in  Changeling: The Lost: A Storytelling Game of Beautiful Madness  angedeutet, wieder eins mit dem Fetch zu werden, sowohl in Regeln, wie auch in der Bedeutung für den Charakter.

Die große Schwäche stellt sicherlich das Kapitel zu den "True Fae" da, da es zum einen überzogen und unausgegren wirkt und zum anderen in späteren Publikationen wie z.B. in  The Equinox Road (Changeling: The Lost)  größten Teils revidiert wird.

Abschließend ist zu sagen, dass einem das Buch alle Werkzeuge zum erstellen von nachvollziehbaren Antagonisten gibt, die Erfahrungsmöglichkeiten der Spieler erweitert und durch die fertiegen Antagonisten auch jede Menge "Storyhooks" bietet.

Essentially a "monster manual" for Changeling: the Lost, Autumn Nightmares resolves a lot of ambiguity that exists in the Changeling rulebook. What kinds of hobgoblins are there? How does the fetch work, exactly? How exactly does the storyteller handle the Gentry? These are examples of some of the questions I had after reading the Changeling rulebook that are answered in Autumn Nightmares. There are examples of changeling antagonists, variations on fetch mechanics/lore, a wide array of hobgoblins, and an entire chapter devoted to the Fair Folk. As always, your imagination is your best tool, but this book offers many ways to get the juices flowing. If you're stumped on how to present any of the material I mentioned above, I highly recommend this book.

My only complaint, and this is a minor one, is that the book is a bit thin at 144 pages. I would have preferred a bit more material. But it is hardcover, which I wasn't expecting.

This book, the first supplement I picked up for changeling, because I was hoping it would give me a lot of ideas for storytelling chronicles, is chock full of ready made characters to pop into a chronicle. The big downside for me was that a lot of these characters, examples mostly, were made for the Miami setting in the core rulebook. Some of them could be popped into a chronicle, and most of the true fae, and the hobgoblins were generic enough to drop in any chronicle, but really this book supplies ideas, far more than it does ready made baddies. It does have rules for creating true fae, fetches, hobgoblins, as well as rules for storytelling the mad and privateers and loyalists, and other antagonistic lost. Overall a good supplement but not quite as helpful as rites of spring.
