The indispensable, up-to-date guide to mixed models using SAS®. Discover the latest capabilities available for a variety of applications featuring the MIXED, GLIMMIX, and NLMIXED procedures in this valuable edition of the comprehensive mixed models guide for data analysis, completely revised and updated for SAS®9. The theory underlying the models, the forms of the models for various applications, and a wealth of examples from different fields of study are integrated in the discussions of these models: random effect only and random coefficients models split-plot, multilocation, and repeated measures models hierarchical models with nested random effects analysis of covariance models spatial correlation models generalized linear mixed models nonlinear mixed models Professionals and students with a background in two-way ANOVA and regression and a basic knowledge of linear models and matrix algebra will benefit from the topics covered. Includes a free CD-ROM with example SAS code!

Good for learning SAS and mixed models

I have a variety of stats books on mixed models, which I pass along to my staff. This book stands out because of its excellent examples and plain-language descriptions of the methods and models.

A very informative book!

I actually did the price hunting and bought this book for my wifee. She said that she was pleased with it and often uses it as a 'consulting' book for her job. Sorry I can't help much more here since I don't work with it and she is not the 'reviewing' kind. But the price I paid for it at Amazon was great with free shipping.

It is a classic book in mixed models. It will get anybody who is new to mixed models to start to use this family of models.

Excellent for use and reference.

This book is excellent for showing the basic theory and practical examples of mixed models and how they can be easily implemented using SAS. I think there should have been a chapter on other non-statistical issues concerning how models can be implemented, such as scoring new observations with a mixed-effects regression model, or data preparation for these models, etc. Other than that, it is an excellent book and use it when the need for mixed-models arises in workplace.

Don't buy Kindle version

Excellent book - essential if you're serious about mixed model analysis in SAS. Unfortunately, the Kindle version is worthless - given that this is a statistics book, you would think the editors would pay particular attention that equations and notation are accurately rendered... not so in this case. One example - the authors use Greek and Latin symbols to differentiate notation between fixed and random effects - all show up in Latin characters here. In other situations, the rendered versions of the equations are completely illegible, even when zoomed - BUY THE PRINT VERSION (or get the scanned e-version on Google Books). Pic 1 shows an excerpt as rendered in Kindle (with a simultaneously amusing and frustrating example highlighted). Pic 2 shows the same excerpt from the Google e-book version.
