*** The data and scripts can be located at the author's new website (not the website provided in the book). I have changed my ranking from 2 stars to 5. Excellent book ***

This book is well written and helpful from a conceptual standpoint. Unfortunately I can't give it more than 2 starts because presently the author does not have the data or R scripts that serve as the companion for the text available on her website. Even worse, the publisher is of no assistance and has stated that there is nothing they can do about it. It is unfortunate that I cannot learn as much as I would like from this book given that the publisher no longer makes the material available.

Pour ceux qui ont déjà des connaissances sur les modèles de survie, ce livre est une excellente synthèse (cf. tableau des modèles en intro, clarté ++), structurée, riche en exemples réalisés avec R et STATA (programmes fournis) & en explications. Melinda Mills a écrit son livre dans un esprit orienté vers la pratique. Un très bon complément aux livres présentant la théorie.

Les 2 derniers chapitres exposent le "competing risk", sequence analysis, un peu vite : dommage !

This is a great text book to learn survival and event-history analysis with a basis in R. Apart from the formulas behind the different models everything else is explained in a fairly simple manner, and almost every step on how to do stuff is shown with examples in R codes. I highly recommended it for both R users and demographers!
