This a a great book on the works of French photographer Eugene Atget. The choice of photographs in this book illustrates the photographer's document-like approach and dedication to capturing the particular details of Parisian life and the hidden beauty of the French capital city.
In this book, expect to see some of Eugene Atget's monochrome views of Paris's backstreets, hidden-from-view inner yards, local shops and popular attractions, portraits of the miserable life of the poor living in the outskirts, magnificent interior architecture and decoration, focus on small ornamental details, portraits of street vendors, all set in the last years of the 19th and early 20th centuries.
In addition to a dense collection of photographic visuals, Eugene Atget's works in Paris is told in an informative 20-page essay published in French. But note that the essay's translation is also made available in the book in English and German too.
The book is complete with a small map of the different areas of Paris to help readers locate where Atget shot each pictures. Photographs are accompanied with captions and dates. A small trilingual biography is also included.

Paris frozen in time: The perfect introduction to Eugène Atget's photography "All I can say: get collecting. These books are an incredible value." - Image, London, on the photography book series
Eugène Atget (1857-1927) roamed the streets with his bulky large format camera, systematically cataloguing turn-of-the-century Old Paris down to the very smallest details. His skilled, wonderfully atmospheric photos of Paris’s parks, buildings, streets, store windows, prostitutes, workers, and even door handles are a joy to behold. Text in English, French, and German

The book is good. The problem is with used book.

I purchased a "used" copy of this wonderful book. to my horror, once I started reading it, only then did I find that quite a few pages were neatly torn off near to the binding. And thus not visible at first glance.
Used books buyer, be careful.
