The telescope at Mount Palomar
2022年2月24日にアメリカ合衆国でレビュー済みAmazonで購入
Loved the book--I felt as if I was working with the astronomers inside the giant dome of the Mount Palomar reflecting telescopes. The PhD's of astronomy and their toils of trying to learn about our infinite universe is presented in an easy, readable style. For those interested in astronomy, telescopes, history, meteors, comets, stars, quasars, etc., you'll enjoy the book.

Exciting and fun read if you are into the history of astronomy.

This is a modern history of astronomy. It is very well written and makes the topic exciting like a detective novel. Lots of interesting stories about the people that made important discoveries. Difficult topics are tackled and explained easily. It was such an interesting story that I was sorry to have it end.

Mr. Preston is a great story teller. His account of the leading astronomers of the century is fascinating and informative. I especially enjoyed his first-hand discussions with comet-hunters Gene and Carolyn Shoemaker.
This book tells a modern tale of astronomy with some of the leading astrophysicists in the world. He also had a chance to visit and interview some of the people responsible for the building of the Palomar telescope. He even found one of the lens grinders, still alive at home in southern California.
A great read!
