Beautiful reference for storyboard work

Beautifully illustrated storyboards from Miyazaki. I can be used as a good reference book for animation director to create their own storyboards. The only difficulty for us is the language. If the book is in English, it can be much more helpful.

A Life-changing Experience for the Aspring Film Maker.

This book is SO COOL. As an aspiring Animator/Film Maker, it is a personal treat and a life-changing experience to see this professional storyboard by Hayao Miyazaki's of one of my favorite movies: Howl's Moving Castle. Even though I can't read or speak Japanese, I ordered this book in order to get a better understanding of the storyboards of 2D animation.
Here is some info about a few note-worthy sections from within the book:
The first, is an introduction page (after the inside cover and table of contents) that teaches you how to read the layout of the storyboard pages. Things like the cut number, scene drawing, action, dialogue, and run time.
Next, there are two pages of useful definitions for various terms and camera movements that appear throughout the book. Things like fix, pan, follow, T-U (track up), F-I (fade in), etc.
After this list comes the bulk of the book: the storyboards themselves. They are printed in mostly black and white, with yellow ink where necessary as not to confuse a scene drawing's layout or shading. Everything is written in Japanese with few exceptions (English in some small cases).
After the storyboards, there is a section that appears to be about the film's acts? Again I can't read Japanese, so I'm not sure.
Then, a Staff and Cast page (that I really wish I could read in order to learn more about all of the people involved with the Film).
Then, a Data page.
Then, which was unexpected but awesome: there are a few pages where Mr.Miyazaki explains film making techniques using some cute little drawings and diagrams. It mostly covers camera techniques, like those mentioned on the camera movement definition pages in the beginning of the book.
Even if you cannot read Japanese, this book is still very cool to look over and definitely worth the buy.
Looking at the detailed scene drawings made me feel like I was watching Howl's Moving Castle for the first time again. I swear I could even hear some of the lines spoken by the voice actors in Disney's English dub of the movie.
I think I might try to pick up some Japanese in order to fully utilize this book. The plentiful action and scene directions within are sure to help any Animation student along their path to success.

<> Review of the Shipping: <> (Hopefully not considered Taboo)
I ordered a used copy from Samurai Media. I was shocked when it said it would take about 2 month to deliver. I mean, what a drag! Upset, I contacted them through Amazon. They got back to me very quickly, in English (which was very cool of them), and assured me that it wouldn't take that long to deliver. I got it about 2.5 weeks from when I ordered.
It came in a padded, water-proof envelope. Inside, it was encased in a plastic bag along with a copy of the invoice and a "thank you" note. Clearly, they made a conscious effort to ship it properly.
The package as a whole was a little banged up and torn from shipping, but in my experience, this always happens when shipping internationally. I don't think the book suffered any noticeable damage from this. One corner of the cardboard cover surrounding the book was a little crushed, which could have been from the shipping or because it was a used book. In any case, the book itself felt brand new, clean, and not crushed of creased in any way. No graffiti, stickiness, or anything like that on the pages either.

A beautiful look into what it takes to create a masterpiece

This book is such a good resource for storyboard artists, Ghibli enthusiasts, and all art appreciators in general. You can see how Miyazaki drew the entirety of the scene in these boards, and it leaves in you awe of his mastery over the medium.
