　「While I come over here, I feel quite free, really free I feel」と述べるイントロダクションが今から思うととても衝撃的。
　自由（フリー）とは「自らに由る」という意味である。これから自分がどういう音楽をやろうとしているのか、第１作にして既に悟ったかのごとく宣言できるところが Ayler だ。もっとも後になって62年10月の「The First Recording」が発掘されたので、63年1月コペンハーゲン録音のこれは第２作ということになった。
　コード・モードの方法論から離れて、みずみずしい独自の感性をほとばしる演奏に変換できる天与の才能、それをスタンダードで聴けるところが非常に良い。
　Niels Bronsted(p)、Niels Pedersen(b)、Ronnie Gardiner(ds)の３人がリズムとソングフォームを維持する上で、Ayler が自在にソロを繰り広げる「フリーバップ・スタイル」とまとめることも出来よう。が、これまでの積み上げを感じさない突然に空から舞い降りてきたかのような超越性は明らか。
　「One day, everything will be as it should be」で〆る自己紹介。ほんと Albert Ayler 最高だ。

The legendary avant-garde saxophonist Albert Ayler(1936-70) was recorded by Danish Radio in Copenhagen on January 14, 1963 with Ayler(tenor & soprano saxophones); Niels Bronsted(piano); Niels-Henning Orsted Pedersen(bass) & Ronnie Gardiner(drums).
Ayler's gentle spoken introduction is in sharp contrast to the fierce and almost primitive music that follows.
The saxophonist deconstructs four standards with immense emotional impact but the main problem is the rather pedestrian rhythm section who have no real rapport with Ayler. Highlights include the intensely moving version of Gershwin's 'Summertime' and the exhilarating free improvisation for tenor, bass & drums, 'C.T.'
The elusive 'My Name Is Albert Ayler' is a fascinating glimpse of the saxophonist's early playing and well worth searching for.
