個人的には
モンゴルホーミーの華やかさのある喉歌よりも
トゥバのホーメイのほうが、素朴かつホーメイが主役な感じで
好きです。
これは、「音の資料館」といった趣の
音楽性・芸術性よりも、さまざまな種類の喉歌を採集したCDです。
入門編としていいんじゃないでしょうか。
私はこれでとてもリラックスして落ち着けて安眠できます

I had a an old cassette tape of these and of course what cars come with cassette players nowadays, the music is brilliant it's guttural with really weird sounds which is thousands of years old. I don't play it very often admittedly as it's an acquired taste I do hear the music on the TV as background music and you should see the look of surprise on peoples faces when they ask "I wonder what that music is"? and I reply with the answer.

This CD presents different styles of Xoomei, or throat singing, from an ethnomusicologist's perspective. It features some of the most incredible sounds on this Planet. It has been recorded in situ, so don't expect studio quality on each and every track. To my taste it's a great listening. Nonetheless, whoever is looking for "easy"-listening music featuring Xoomei, might find it a little dry, and may want to look for some records by Huun Huur Tu, Egschiglen or the like.

I had heard an interview of the Physicist Richard Feynman about his efforts to go to Tuva, saw this CD and had to have it. This is one of the best, listenable and entertaining collections of Mongolian throat singing that you will find.

Turned on to Tuva by Paul Penna. This just continues the love affair. A large variety of material that is well worth the listen.
