久し振りに聴いてみたがやはり良いです。
曲順もアルバム発表順(ライヴを除く)なので時間のズレが無いため昔から聴いてきた身には違和感無く聴けます。
１９７０年のファースト･アルバムからワーナーへ移籍するまでのマーキュリー時代の６枚の作品から選曲されています。
本作品にはオリジナル･アルバムにはこの時点では未収録だったドーナツ盤のB面「ミルウォーキー」「ノット･マイ･ベイビー」「ジョディ」の３曲が有ることです。
価格から仕方ないのですが歌詞対訳が無いのが残念です。

フェイセズと同時期のロッドのソロのおいしいとこ取りです。２枚目が最高ですね。名曲を選曲してオリジナリティを持って歌うのはロッドの才能なんでしょうな。後半のライブはフェイセズでのライブです。

This music is worth 5 stars, no doubts - well-chosen album tracks, singles and b-sides from his genius post-Jeff beck pre-Britt Ekland period on Mercury when he could do no wrong, when he was writing and singing some of the most literate, intelligent, funny and moving songs of the early seventies, backed by assorted Faces and congenial British studio musicians. Fabulous. The only problem here is the price, which is stupid. People wanting a shot of prime Rod should look at getting Reason To Believe: The Complete Mercury Studio Recordings, which is what it says on the box,is a three cd set and is more comprehensive and MUCH cheaper than this anthology. No getting away from the music, though.
