Colors of Brazil is a 'lounged' version of Bossa Nova and Samba. Let's say Brazil 'lite'. Very enjoyable to listen to, maybe hardcore Brasilia fans may scoff, but Exotican swingers will definately dig.
African Blue is an outstanding mix of great moody songs. Horns, percussion, bass, vibes, haunting chorus.....If I could personally boil down what 'traditional' and standard Exotica is, or should have been from the beginning (love Denny's birds and bells and the space age sounds too, but Les brings no cheese here) African Blue is it. Late 60's era greatness from Baxter.

A fabulous collection of 2 albums on one CD, the multi rhythms from Africa and Brazil conjured into an accessible sound of Les Baxter's big band and chorus make for a real treasure. A toe tapper and sing/whistle along collection evoking a bygone era of clinking cocktail glasses and sun drenched lounges. One of the smoothest discs around
At his best. This is a two-fer CD. I like putting this in (or any of Les Baxter's albums) the CD player and just relax with the sounds of exotica flowing from the speakers.
If you are new to exotica, welcome. You won't regret the purchase of this CD. If you are a Les Baxter fan, you should click the "buy" button now.
Les Baxter's music is my go-to selection for escaping. This album is an excellent example of Baxter's brilliance for capturing a multicultural array of fantastic sounds. Awesome!
