TMBG has always been a great reason for math and computer science majors to add a real rock album to their collection of John Williams and Weird Al records--and Flood is a bacchanalian celebration of dorkiness. Lifting off from their previous album, Lincoln, which was a sort of transitional hit-or-miss, Flood is a soaring, catchy sing-along album destined for people who love quoting Monty Python sketches. Try not singing the words to "Particle Man," "Istanbul (Not Constantinople)," or "Birdhouse in your Soul." (Apparently, "Particle Man" was so catchy that the song was later used as a sing-along in a cartoon show for children.) Combining a book-smart, funny love of history, junk culture, and film noir, this is the album to own. Put it on loud, sing along, and dance very, very badly. --Todd Levin

「おもちゃ箱をひっくりかえした」という乱用されがちなコピーが真に相応しいバンドはなかなか見つかりませんがこのＴＭＢＧの３ｒｄアルバムを聴いた時には生きてて良かったと思いました。
曲の出来が良く、独自の知性と感性がほとばしっています。さらに様々なジャンルを縦横無尽に駆け巡るような笑ってしまうほどに幅広いアレンジを展開させながらも、アルバム全体として一つの美学を感じさせるという本当に素晴らしい作品です。

I was hesitant when I bought the vinyl due to the large amount of reviews saying there was a skip at the first birdhouse in the albums second track 'Birdhouase in Your Soul' and I can say after listening to the whole album it must be fixed. I can't find a single thing wrong with the disk after a first listen, and the quality is absolutely excellent. Thanks Johns, Music on Vinyl, and Amazon for bringing my favorite They Might Be Giants album to life, and in my home. :)

Great pressing of a great album

I've been a fan of TMBG since Flood came out in 1990, and got back into vinyl a few years back, so this purchase was a no-brainer for me. The Music On Vinyl LP is a quality release which does the music justice.

Packaging: This release is a gatefold album that matches the original 1990 LP release's design. The track listing is on the back, and the lyrics are on the inside. It comes in a clear plastic outside cover. The LP is in a poly-lined paper sleeve to further protect the record.

LP: The record is on 180 gram vinyl. My copy was perfectly flat and had no visible issues. The stickers match the original release, listing the songs for each side within a TMBG logo.

Sound: The pressing is excellent. I've been listening to Flood in various formats since it came out, and, to me, this is the best version I have heard. Music On Vinyl did a great job, and this is also one of the best sounding albums in my collection. It has a very good dynamic range, and the lows, mids, and highs are right where they should be. Some reviews here have mentioned a skip at the first "blue canary..." in Birdhouse in your Soul that looked to be a flaw in the pressing, but my copy does not have that issue. I read on discogs that it appears that there was an update to the release that eliminated this.

If you're into good sounding vinyl, this is definitely something to add to your collection.

The use of the word 'Album' should give you some info about my age. I'd forgotten about this group until a friend mentioned them recently. When I came back from holiday I ordered the CD to replace the worn out cassette tape (yes thats right it's an old form of portable, copiable music for all you under 35's) that i'd had. It brought back great memories and it's just great music - a little offbeat and with some interesting lyrics but it soon had me singing along with Particle Man and Birdhouse in my soul. Buy it, try it and introduce yourself to something old but somehow new.

To me this is one of TMbG best albums. every song is good. I like TMbG but I cant say that about every album. This truly a must have, along with Lincoln and John Henry. I just wish I could find any of their live albums on Amazon. However, Amazon does have a huge selection and all of them are worth a listen.
