There are a handful of great albums and 'urban renewal' should be regarded amongst their ranks. It doesn't harm if you have a singer like Lenny Williams at his finest to front the band. If soul is your thing then don't hesitate, add this to your collection now!
TOP are sure consistently funky--with horn section to rival many.To sustain popularity over several decades is testament to their broad fan base. This is one of their most consistently great albums with excellent Lenny Williams in fine form.
TOP has always been a maddeningly inconsistant band in the studio. This is one of their better releases and features lead vocalist Lenny Williams (here in his last studio album with the band). Williams would depart for a solo career shortly after the release of this album, tiring of the band's issues with substance abuse. Sadly, they would never really regain the popularity they had with Williams and would largely remain a Bay Area, rather than national phenomenon.
