彼らのアルバムは１枚目のこの作品から４枚目の「Undertow」までリアルタイムで聞いていました。そのなかで一番気に入っているアルバムです。１曲目のIt Doesn't Matterはいくつかのアーティストで聞いたけど、Firefallが一番さわやか。Livin' Ain't Livin'、Cinderella、You Are The Woman、Mexicoなど名曲が収録されています、シングル盤にいい曲が多いグループなので、Greatest Hitsが初めて聞く人にはおすすめですが、そちらは年代順に収録されているのでだんだんハードになっていくのがわかります。どれか１枚となるとこの1st、次に2ndアルバムがおすすめです。どこかの海岸で夕陽を眺めながらDolphin's Lullabyを聞けたら最高です。ジャケット写真を含めいいアルバムです。

アメリカでは知名度の高いマイケル・クラークとリック・ロバーツが中心となって結成されたファイアーフォール。まさにウエストコーストといった爽やかなハーモニーとポップな曲作りは一級品。彼らの代表作はなんといってもこのファーストアルバムで、２５年経った今聞いても色あせることなく、どの曲も魅力たっぷりです。

FIREFALLって今まで知りませんでした。何気なくアマゾンを見ていると、このアルバムが目に止まったので買ってみたのですが、一言で言うと平凡なアルバムですね。ハーモニーはきれいだけどそれだけですね。このアルバムを絶賛する方も多いのですがメロが平凡、耳に残るメロがないですね。イーグルスやポコ、フリートウッドマック、ジャクソンブラウンなんかをよく聞くんですが、これは全体に単調で弱い。売れなかった理由がなんとなくわかります。これだったらリトルリバーバンドやパブロクルーズの方が断然いいですね。

excelente grupo de country-rock de Colorado formado entre otros por el ex miembro de The Flying Burrito Brothers Rick Roberts.

Me recuerdan bastante a America por las armonías y los acordes de las guitarras acústicas que hacían

Me he comprado todas las ediciones que se han publicado de sus discos; un 2 en 1 que recopila los tres primeros: "Firefall", "Luna Sea y "Élan".

Aún conservo "Luna Sea" y "élan por separado porque esta edición 2 en 1 no lleva los temas bonus tracks del segundo y tercero.

Volví a comprar el primero como regalo a un amigo para que descubriera este fantástico grupo.

Okay, so this is something of a guilty pleasure for me. It's not strictly the kind of thing I listen to these days, but I have good memories of it from its original release way back when.....

So on a whim I ordered the CD, and man this one has aged wonderfully. As others have noted (from Amazon.com) this is the kind of disc that sounds like a Greatest Hits package (of course it's not, it's their debut album). It's not enough to say there are no bad tracks, the fact is there are no wasted notes, no beat you could do without. It's just perfect as it is. And since the production was so well done at the time, it's aged not a bit.

If you're wondering - Firefall are part of the West Coast country rock bands from the 70's. Be thinking Eagles, for example. That means you get great melodies, sweet harmonies, and a languid guitar style that makes it all seem so effortless. After a couple of plays you'll be singing along (not sure what the neighbors will think, though). The reissue is done by Rhino, and the sound is immaculate. No signs of the loudness wars, no distortion or straining, just the wonderful tone of a band at the top of their game. It ships in a jewelcase, and the booklet contains the full lyrics.

As I mentioned, this is not the kind of music I play these days. But I'll be..... this is getting constant plays. It's light without being insipid, fits in with early morning and late at night, and works for either detailed listening, or for just having on in the background. Okay, so "You Are the Woman" is pure cheese. But in context it's lightweight pop sensibilities fit in well.

Love this.... and I don't care who knows it!

Le premier album de Firefall est une des trois perles, trop méconnues, que sont les trois premiers albums de Firefall. Une synthèse très originale au milieu des années 70. Se situe entre les Byrds, Manassas, et le Buffalo Springfield. Le Folk-Rock, allié au country, à la soul, et à des effet jazzy, est ici une grand réussite, très fluide, pointue et cool! Rick Roberts, venu des Flying Burritos, y est un chanteur magique, et Mickel Clarke, premier batteur des Byrds, y fait une de ses meilleures prestations. De plus, le cd est bien remasterisé. Super article!
