Recorded during a four-night engagement at Chicago's High Chapparral club, the set includes classic WAR favorites such as "Slippin' Into Darkness," "All Day Music" and "Get Down" in their original long form, as well as the previously unrecorded "Ballero," a fiery Latin jam that reached #33 on the pop and #17 on R&B singles charts. まさに、３rdアルバム「THE WORLD IS A GHETTO」が大ヒットした後のまさに、バンドとしてノリノリ状態の頃のライブ！シングルでヒットした曲（THE CISCO KID)よりも本作でのお勧めはなんと言っても、SLEPPIN' INTO THE DARKNESS、ALL DAY MUSIC、GET DOWN が何と言っても、圧巻であり、彼等のライブバンドとしての力量が一発でわかる曲です。コンサートのGROOVE 感も十分に伝わる傑作です。

A bit pricey but well worth a birthday present to myself. CD arrived within time quoted, in excellent condition. I was pleased with quality of production, given the age of the album. Would recommend EliteDigital to anyone

First off...the very sparse intro,as done by E.Rodney Jones from the long ago defunct WVON(1450 AM/Chicago),for this spectacular high-energy live set zoomed me back to my childhood. That radio station was at the entire forefront of Black radio on Chicago's South & West sides during the late 60's and well into the 70's. The sonic interplay and virtuosic performances from each WAR-rior
shall leave you stunned and amazed (as it has me!!). I get the same thrill from hearing this double disc package as when one of my older brothers put this classic on his Pioneer turntable some 30 years ago! An absolute MUST have for that true WAR impressario. When I saw 'WAR-LIVE' pop up on my screen,I was compelled to claim my very own copy BEFORE they were painfully sold out. If the early studio offerings of this gritty n'earthy septet turns you on...do yourself (and your REAL urban music collection)a favor,BUY THIS PRODUCT!!

There is so much packed into this one album. Of the full concert, live albums that I have heard/own, this is either number two or three on my list (number one is The Allman Brothers at Fillmore East.) Their set list is smooth and they are playing for the sake of a great concert, as opposed to just playing their songs. Rock, Soul, Blues, Jazz, Funk, it has it all and it all works perfectly. There is so much depth to this, and yet it maintains that simple, blues core that makes it very hard to not try and keep the beat.
