最初から飛ばしまくりですごく良い。とてもいい曲を１曲目にもってくるところが合う。

不思議なユニットで、整然とした雰囲気のトラックがとても格好いい。ギターを始めロックっぽく聞こえないところが気に入っている。

それにこのノリの良さはどこから沸いて来るのか、ダンスミュージック系のミュージシャンを軽く凌駕しているものがある。

ジャケットのデザインからワンパターンに思わせて、音的には毎度驚かされる。

低音ボイスがめちゃくちゃ気持ちいい "Ultra" や、ノリのいい " Trust " がカッコイイと思った。
実に愉快なユニットだ！

大大大好きなKMFDMのこのアルバムは1番最初のULTRAからして凄過ぎ（カッコよすぎ）！！ULTRAを聴いていたら無性にキーボードが弾きたくなってCASIOのミニキーボードを買ってしまった！！弾いていると楽し過ぎ！！聴いてるとカッコ良過ぎ〜！！

95年発表された、KMFDMの7th Album。
深い信頼関係にあったレーベルWaxTraxの閉鎖により、
在籍時(ほぼ99年の解散前)の作品は数年前から延々と廃盤指定にされていましたが、
07年、世界でもトップクラスのエンジニアとミックス/マスタリング技術を有する、
怪物レーベル(インディーズだというのが信じられない…)Metropolisより再発されました！
期待通り再発と共にリマスタリングは施されており、
音質、音圧ともに現代のレベルにアップグレードされているのが嬉しい限りです。

この当時のKMFDMは解散前/再結成後も中心人物として活動するSascha Konietzkoは勿論、
共にプログラミングとヴォーカルを務めていたEn Eschと、
今作から分厚く優れたギターリフを数多く残したGuenter Schulz(現在は共にSlick Idiotとして活動)が在籍し、
脱退後PIGとして活動するも、長年交流を続けているRaymond Wattsがリードヴォーカルを務め、
この頃のKMFDMの『らしさ』を表現していた女性コーラスを担当するDorona Albertiといった、
正に黄金期といって差し支えのないメンバーが揃っていました。
そのためか楽曲の充実度は解散前/再結成後の他作と比べても間違いなくトップクラスに位置しており、
本作こそがKMFDMの最高傑作という評価が多いのも頷けます。

重厚なギターとハンマービートが炸裂する1.ULTRA、
キャッチーなシンセのフレーズとサビの女性コーラスが印象強い2.JUKE JOINT JEZEBEL、
ミドルテンポのA,Bメロから、いきなりスピードアップするサビに鳥肌が立つインダストリアルメタルナンバー、
3.FLESHから打って変わって、ポップなダンスナンバーの4.BEASTに続く前半だけでもインパクト絶大ですが、
切れ味鋭い、ザクザクのギターリフが全編鳴り響く6.SEARCH&DESTROY、
オーケストラっぽいサンプリングと、サビでのDronaのヴォーカルが渋い10.TRUSTも素晴らしく、
大迫力かつノイジーなエンディング11.NIHILまで、バラエティに富んだ楽曲が続いて飽きません。

聴き直してみるほどに、この後のアルバムは今作のいずれかの要素を強めたり、
時流に沿ったジャンルを盛り込んでいるのかと思わせてしまうような、KMFDMの魅力が凝縮された名盤です。

　KMFDMのなかではロック/メタル色の強いアルバムです。KMFDMファンの間で好き嫌いが分かれることはないと思いますが、最高傑作かどうかでは意見が分かれるでしょう。今のところ、私は最高傑作だと思っていますが。KMFDMはメタルとテクノの間を行ったり来たりしますので一般にはインダストリアルロックに分類されていますが、ちょっと違うと思います（Saschaも否定していましたね）。Ministry、Fear Factory、Nine Inch Nailsなどが1990年代にメタルとテクノを融合した音楽を創ったのですが、その後各自の方向に進化（退化？）しました。一方、KMFDMは現在まで、同心円上をずっとグルグル回っている感じです。最近の作品も出来が良くて期待は裏切られないのですが、水戸黄門的な雰囲気も否定できません。
　つまらないことを書きすぎました。先に述べたように、これは大傑作です。本レヴューのタイトルはJuke Joint Jezebelのリフレインですが、Juke Jointというのはジュークボックスを置いてある（あるいは生演奏のある）酒場ないしダンスホールのことで、そこの常連のJezebelという女性を歌っているのだと思います。歌詞は今よりもこの頃の方が良かったですね。この曲を聴いていいと思ったら、KMFDMのファンになってください。

KMFDMの１９９５年に発表した最高傑作。
初期のメンバーで、KMFDMとは旧知の仲であったPIGことレイモンド・ワッツがこのアルバムにゲストとして参加（現在は正式メンバー）、１０曲中６曲もメインヴォーカルでその迫力の低音ヴォイスを披露している。
この"NIHIL"発売の前年、１９９４年に発表したミニアルバム"SIN SEX & SALVATION"の共同作業がきっかけで彼らは再び交流を始めた。
"NIHIL"には捨て曲が一曲もない。更に何度聴いても飽きない。
聴けば聴くほどその完成度の高さに驚愕する。
まだKMFDMを知らなくて、どのアルバムを買って良いか分からない人は、まずこの";NIHIL"を買って間違いないだろう。
インダストリアルが好きな人だけでなく、メタルが好きな人、打ち込み系が好きな人にも是非聴いて欲しい一枚。

　彼らの７ｔｈ。代表作にして最高傑作！
　いつもはユーモア混じりで余裕を見せている感のある彼らだが、今回は一切の妥協なし！マジだ～！初期メンバーであってＰＩＧとしてゴシック・インダストリアルな世界を表現しているレイモンド・ワッツが一時復帰！彼の闇から囁く様な湿った低音ボイスと、それとは対象的なマスターブレインであるサシャ・コニエツコの乾いたシャウトやボーカルが、怒りや批判、虚無感や孤独感と狂気を吐き出す！それでも希望を持とうとする部分にはソウルフルな女性コーラスがフューチャーされており、すべてのベクトルはカタルシスへと向かっているので気持ちイイ！
　サウンド的には、前作「ＡＮＧＳＴ」よりも音質が向上し、音の輪郭がくっきり仕上がっている。前作ではかなりコマーシャルにフューチャーされていたメタルギターは、今作では主にバッキングに徹しているが、その分楽曲のへヴィーさは格段に上がった！また、ＭＩＮＩＳＴＲＹなどで知られるウィリアム・リーフリンがドラムで数曲参加したことでグルーヴは肉感的になっている！
　彼らの作品はいつもそうだが、肉体的にはダンサブルなグルーヴで快楽を、聴覚には色々な音で刺激を与えてくれるが、頭脳はクールに保たせてくれる！本当にいいバンドだ～！
　とにかく最高！これを聴かずしてＫＭＦＤＭは語るな！

カッコいい曲は最初の３曲だけなので、それだけで星5はないです。

kmfdm の最大の弱点は「最後まで通して聞けない」だと思います。

もちろんいいアルバムもありますが、少数かな？
WW3はよかった！

ほとんどのアルバムは最初の数曲だけ勢いがあってそれ以降はダラダラといった傾向にあると思う。

カッコいい曲も作れるバンドなのに勿体無い。

聞き手としては「あーー、作曲する方も集中力が切れちゃったのかなぁー」って感じます。

好きな方、申し訳ない。

こっちも金払って買ってるので厳しく評価したい。

Nihil was released in 1995, just a year after Trent Reznor's The Downward Spiral made industrial into more than just an underground reactionary genre. Whenever I go back and listen to Nihil, I can't help but see it as a reaction to TDS; unlike past KMFDM albums, the lyrics tended to be both more serious and more introspective. There were no "funny" songs like Sucks, and there weren't any more dancefloor hits like Vogue or Naive. Also worth mentioning is that there weren't any songs in german- I've always thought that KMFDM was best when En Esch was growling in his native tongue. Even without all of these aspects, KMFDM manages to make a great album- in fact, the best album of their entire career. By eschewing the satirical and tongue-in-cheek tone from their past, they created an album that contained serious political commentary, mercilessly heavy beats, and still sounded like KMFDM.

First, the album kicks off with Ultra, one of the greatest songs KMFDM has every done and probably the best "break-up" song ever written. It stands out with the driving industrial beat and kick-ass synthesizer lines, as well as Raymond Watt's excellent vocals. In my opinion, KMFDM would have been better off if Pig was a part of every album; his vocals fit the industrial sound perfectly, and the lyrics he contributes are always interesting and creative. Next, KMFDM's most famous song, Juke Joint Jezebel, keeps the flow going. Again, the lyrics are more elaborate than on any past KMFDM album, and the excellent synthesizers are what keeps the song addicting. While Angst, their previous album, relied on the guitars to provide the hooks in a song, Nihil keeps them further in the background and uses the synths to pull you in- which they do repeatedly and effectively. Next, Flesh is one of the heaviest songs on the album, and is one of the few songs to primarily employ the guitars. It isn't necessarily one of my favorites, but it is worth noting that it could certainly belong on Angst without too much trouble.

Next, on Beast, Pig's vocals take a break, yet the band remains fresh and interesting. Yet again, there is a driving synth beat to hook you in, and the guitar riff is one of the most innovative I've ever heard. The distorted vocals are great, and the lyrics are probably the closest that KMFDM gets to their usual self-referential schtick. However, they're still more serious than on past albums, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. The next song, Terror, is a standout, using a more prominent drum beat than in other songs and throwing very dissonant guitars into the intro. The lyrics are highly political, yet in a much more mature way than ever before. While KMFDM used to rely on slogans such as "Rip the system!" in their political songs, Terror shows their ability to actually make a statement without being too silly. Search & Destroy is interesting, but the lyrics don't flow too well and the music doesn't really catch my attention- still a great song, but a low point of the album.

Disobedience is very similar to Terror, to the point that I sometimes mix up their names, yet it stands on its own. The music is much more atmospheric than anything KMFDM has ever done, and the horns are absolutely perfect. I absolutely adore the intro to Revolution, and the guitar riff is extremely unique and well done. En Esch's singing isn't at its top though, although the female backing singers help keep it afloat. I can't help but feel that the next song, Brute, is a song about a BDSM relationship, although it seems to be a much deeper song. The clanging noises in the background are subtle yet great, and the singing is perfect here. Finally, Trust closes the album with a solid, guitar-driven song that remains interesting all throughout.

This album is by far the best thing KMFDM ever did. They had never made such a serious album before, and never would again (aside from WWIII, which I prefer not to think about). The music here is industrial, yet also contains a lot of influence from traditional metal music, and the vocals and hooks are very pop-y. Therefore, if you ever want to introduce one of your friends, family members, or co-workers to industrial without scaring them away, I'd suggest Nihil. It is a solid industrial album, and probably one of the greatest overall albums ever written.

**Intro**
This is one of the best albums that KMFDM has ever made. It is kind of the height of their creativity, and is among the most visceral and menacing of any of their work. While some of their albums have two or three good songs, on this album they are pretty much all good. If you want to explore KMFDM, this would be a good first album. If you are a dedicated fan, you have to have this one in your collection to be legit.

**The songs**
1. Ultra - This serves as the introduction to the album. It has good baseline, and has kind of a "KMFDM hitting the road toward revolution." sort of atmosphere, particularly in the beginning.
2. Juke Joint Jezebel - A signature KMFDM song. Nice male and female vocals put together. Heavy guitar and synthesizer work together really well.
3. Flesh - Excellent lyrics. For example, "This is the dome of my betrayal, this is the final broken nail."
4. Beast - Use of an dark organ part, and dark, calm, evil vocals. Laser gun-like science fiction sounds that are whimsical, almost cheesy in the accompaniment. Chorus male and female vocals together. Lyrics include "I'm out of control; and I love it!!"
5. Terror - Lyrics about terror well before 9/11. Content is about anarchy, rebellion, resent of social injustice.
6. Search & Destroy - Fast and driving lyrics and again, really good lyrics one liners such as "Do we sit in the saddle, or are we just cattle?" and "Are we victims or winners; believers or sinners?"
7. Disobedience - Typical KMFDM, but contains excerpts from civil rights movement speeches mixed in with the music. Song is about political disobedience.
8. Revolution - Begins with a flute part, then contains synthesized accompaniment that sounds almost like liquid being sloshed around, then there are female and male vocals with continued accompaniment
9. Brute - Mostly male vocals are super menacing, and have a slobbering wet sound to them in part of the song, and a male-screaming sound to them in other parts. "Kiss these lying lips" is included in the lyrics.
10. Trust - More really good lyrics that rival rap music in their inventiveness and smoothness. Male vocals for the verses, female vocals for the chorus and in a few other parts. Some of the lyrics include "Do what you can; what you want; what you must," "Open up and enable, put your cards on the table," and "Only death is eternal, make no mistake." The accompaniment includes drums/drum machine, guitar riffs sprinkled in with the drum machine, and an instrumental solo in the middle that is almost symphonic. An echoing female vocal part ends the song. An excellent conclusion to the album!! There are also some hidden track sounds at the end of the album that are abstract and reminiscent of KMFDM's older days.

**Conclusion**
Regardless of if you are new to KMFDM, or an old veteran, you have to have this album in your collection. It was one of KMFDM's best works, and most famous works. There are no dud songs on this album, so don't buy separate songs, buy the whole thing at once.

Finally, because this is a KMFDM album, I am obligated to say this:

KMFDM sucks!!!

Ok, es ist ja schon so einiges über die Remasterings der KMFDM Alben geschrieben worden und versteht mich nicht falsch es gibt auch mit "MONEY" ANGST" und "XTORT" 3 recht gelungene, die zumindest noch klingen wie die original Alben.

"NIHIL" gehört neben den ersten 3 KMFDM Alben ("Opium" nicht mitgerechnet) allerdings zu den absoluten Klang- Katastrophen!
Nicht nur das, wie schon öfters beschrieben wurde, jegliche Dynamik herausgenommen wurde, nein sie haben es wirklich geschafft das Album stellenweise vollkommen anders klingen zu lassen und zwar auf übersteuert grauenvolle Art und Weise.

So fehlt im Opener "Ultra" mal eben komplett die unglaublich geile Bassline die den Song im Chorus zu einem manisch-brachialen Meisterwerk gemacht hat und "Juke Joint Jezebel" wartet mit Bässen und Höhen auf die im Original Song keinesfalls zu einem derart übersteuerten Klangmatsch inkl. Kopfschmerzen geführt haben und so geht es den ganzen Rest des Album weiter.

Dabei ist "NIHIL" eines der besten KMFDM Alben auf dem mit "Ultra" und "Trust" zwei ihrer genialsten Songs enthalten sind, gerade deshalb ist dieses Remastering auf keinen Fall zu empfehlen.

When I first heard of KMFDM, I was in the process of climbing out of the muck that is pop music. I had heard the term "industrial" before, but I thought that meant "music that sounds kinda like Marilyn Manson." This album not only proved me wrong on that count, it opened up a whole new genre of music to me that has since become one of my favorites. "Nihil" showcases KMFDM in their finest hour: having perfected their sound on 1993's "Angst," KMFDM proceeds to apply it here with results that can only be descibed in cliches like "breathtaking" and "mind-blowing."
The jewel of this album is, of course, "Juke Joint Jezebel." It has been about a year since I first heard this song, and in that time I've listened to a lot of music from a huge variety of genres. However, I am still convinced that this is the best song in the history of rock and roll (with "Hey Jude" coming in second). Everything about this song is perfect: Raymond Watts' visceral growl, the harsh guitars of Gunter Schulz, and the cold, distant electronics of Sascha Konietzko make this song undeniably industrial, but the band doesn't stop there, as they layer several dance-pop hooks into the cacaphony, making it one of the most accessable songs in their catalogue. The lyrics are top notch, and in my (incredibly biased) opinion, constitute one of the best expressions of rebellion in popular culture. But what really makes this song memorable are the powerful backing vocals of Jennifer Ginsburg, who is one of the most amazing vocalists I've ever heard.
The rest of the album is extremely well done as well. Although her voice doesn't have the diva-like boom of Ginsburg's, Dorona Alberti's sultry style complements the gruff male vocals well. "Terror" sounds like a typical post-9/11 song, until you realize that it was written 6 and a half years earlier. Other highlights include the surprisingly effective brass section on "Disobedience," and the general awesomeness of the entire album.
To summarize: this album is perfect. Get it now.
