一時期値段が安くなったので慌てて購入しました
めちゃめちゃクールです！！！
Wireにはなかったダークな雰囲気やポップ感、そして知的なクールさがあります。
特に「羊たちの沈黙」のサントラに使われた「Alone」は本作屈指の名曲です！！！
精神的に追い詰められるような切り刻むようなリフと、陰鬱なのに親しみやすさは本当に不思議です！！！
YouTubeでプロモで見れる「B」もいかれていて最高です！！！
プロモ映像もやばいぐらいいかれてます（笑）

元ワイヤーのコリンニューマンのソロ1st。突然切り込んで来るアヴァンギャルドなギターやシンセがまたかっこいい。ポップなんだけどひねくれてる名盤です。

wireにもポップ感溢れる名曲があったが、「A-Z」はそういうところを抽出したような楽しい曲が多い。緊張感や前衛を求めるならwireであるが、メロディックなwireの１stに近い感じがする。
そこに、Colinのニューウェーブのセンスが加わった感じか。
楽しめますよ。

Para quién sea seguidor de Wire (o no), es un álbum muy interesante de principio a fin. Hay temas explosivos ("Order To Order"), otros más sombríos ("Alone") y otros simplemente suenan a donde les da la gana ("B"). El sonido del vinil me pareció bastante bueno comparándolo con las versiones digitales, vale la pena en este formato aunque no traiga la legión de temas alternos o demos que vienen en la edición en CD. A diferencia de la edición original no contiene inserto con letras, viene más simple en ese sentido.

Wire is one of the great original punk bands in history, and maybe the best overall. While I dig the pioneers of punk, which helped restore genuine rock and roll to the world in the face of bloated AOR pop music and the disco plague, not to mention some of the drippiest sappiest "mellow" songs ever recorded ("Have You Never Been Mellow?" anybody? I didn't think so), among them the Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Stranglers, The Ramones, and The Damned, lots of "The's" there, I consider Wire's "Pink Flag" and the follow up "Chairs Missing" two of the greatest punk albums of all time.
But being no one trick ponies, Wire showed the punk world that they could do more than just scream and act like third rate Johnny Rottens, which lots of other outfits did, demonstrating that punk too was full of imitators and posers, and just as capitalist as the mainstream bands they supposedly abhorred and slagged. Their third album "154" was the one that truly marked a sea change for these guys, with slower songs here and there, and an intelligence and style all their own - not overly produced, but more than just some stripped down three chord punk, either.
The band had a bit of a hiatus after "154" with various issues to address, among them a lack of money. Guitarist and primary music writer Colin Newman had a lot of music though he wanted to get released and most Wire fans and myself find "A-Z" to be what would have been in all probability the fourth Wire album had they not stepped aside for a short time.
Thus, the comparisons to "154" abound, but it should be mentioned that we get hints of some of the more moody stuff that would become "The Ideal Copy". Newman was proving himself to be a stellar songwriter and visionary, and the "official" release, the first of two CD's in this package verify that claim. From the opening rocking "I've Waited Ages" to "Alone" and everything else, the template was one that still sounds very current and visionary. No wasted notes here - just genius arrangements and experiments that show us how important Newman's contributions to further Wire albums were.
There are a few remixes here on the second disc, but done differently enough that you may not immediately realize the tune was already done on the first disc. The last few cuts are very raw demos, and the sound is very primitive, but it's still valuable, and the last track "Part Of Our History" with its spooky synth bass could be a standout track on any of Wire's newer albums, like the astonishing "Silver/Lead". Newman's voice was more punky as this album was recorded decades ago, but it's a must have for all Wire fans and anybody who likes the new directions post punk dared to go after the initial explosion that started with The Ramones.

L’album è del 1980 ed è una PIETRA MILIARE. Il brano "Alone" è stato utilizzato nel film "Il silenzio degli innocenti".
Possiedo l'edizione in CD del 1988 con un suono compresso, ovattato, ma unica stampa in CD prima di questa del 2016.
Tutto ciò per dirvi che il remaster è MERAVIGLIOSO e l'acquisto è OBBLIGATORIO.

Woaw! What a remastering! and the unissued material is really worth it......I got a couple of remarks though: 1) why is there no booklet with the lyrics ? 2) where is the track "this picture" gone (it was on the original CD issue!!) 3) why is Charles Bullen credited on "troisième" iso Billy Bagg? 4) no mention about the producers on the sleeve (Mike Thorne has also produced some B-sides) Apart from these anecdotes, I would say: this issue is perfect....
