モータウンレーベルはもちろん、ファンクブラザーズの魅力を知りたいなら、なんといってもこのＣＤが１番だと思います。有名曲は当然のこととして、なかなか普段耳にすることの出来ない１発屋のヒット曲も聴くことが出来ます。音質もライノでお馴染みのビル・イングロットなので安心して聞けます。今でこそモータウンのＣＤはリマスターが良く出来ていますが、このボックスセットが出た頃はあまり良くなかったので、当時そのサウンドの迫力が衝撃的でした。

This Motown CD Collection is a gift. In more ways than one. It was a gift for my dad (he's a Motown junkie) and it was a gift for me as well (I grew up listening to Motown because of my father's musical tastes). So, it's really like a gift that keeps on giving. We both recognize and sing along to the familiar songs...sometimes the music articulates my father's thoughts/feelings more than his actual words. Music is the common language that my father and I share.

The discs themselves were in pristine condition and the variety of music (from slow ballads to foot thumping, hip gyrating uptempo) seemed just right. There was also a nice booklet filled with artist info.

I'm grateful for this collection because it keeps me connected to my father. And the 'bang for the buck' factor: 104 songs from a multitude of Motown Greats... How does one put a price on that cheeky grin my dad gets when he hears "The Hunter Gets Captured By The Game" by The Marvelettes? One simply cannot.

Bottom line: buy this!

I ordered through Amazon, the seller was located in Germany. Shipping was faster than expected.

An excellent box set, bought to replace my set that appears to have been lost when moving house, it comes with a substantial booklet that gives detailsof all the artists featured on the four discs. A 'must-have' for true Motown fans, there is also a follow-on box set available that covers Motown hits throughout the 1972-1992 period that, whilst in my opinion is not as good as the 1959-1971 set, completes a pretty comprehensive catalogue of what is 'the magic of Motown'!

Diese 4 CD-Box gehört preislich nicht zu den Billigprodukten. Die Liebhaber der Tamla Motown-Ära werden ein Großteil der Lieder bereits kennen. Hierzu soll angemerkt werden, daß sich auf CD 1 die älteren und nicht ganz so bekannten Lieder befinden, während auf den CD's 2 bis 4 die Hitparaden-Knaller der Jahre 1965 - 1970 verewigt sind.
Das absolut Spektakulärste ist jedoch der abgemischte SOUND. Es ist mit Worten gar nicht auszudrücken, wie "anders" die Platten klingen. Man erwartet im Prinzip von 40 Jahre alten Liedern der Tamla Motown-Studios nur unsauberes Schlagzeug, übersteuerte Bässe, zischenden Gesang und ggfs. noch Hintergrundrauschen.
Dieses Box-Set übertrifft alle Erwartungen:
Absolut sauberster Klang, keinerlei Übersteuerungen und irgendwie weiß man gar nicht so recht...es klingt total wie das ORIGINAL, aber trotzdem wie eine moderne Produktion. Hier haben die Produzenten in ihrer Abmischung ein Meisterwerk vollbracht. Excellente Solo-Gitarren, geordneter Gesang und kräftige Musikproduktion...das Anhören dieser alten Klassiker macht plötzlich süchtig...
Auf jeden Fall für alle Liebhaber dieser Ära: ein Kaufempfehlung mit 5 Sternen - ohne Einschränkung.
