"Ingrid Bargman(ｲﾝｸﾞﾘｯﾄﾞ･ﾊﾞｰｸﾞﾏﾝの歌)"を
聴いてみたくて購入。
米カントリー伝説の歌手ウディ・ガスリーが遺した歌詞に
英国の社会派ミュージシャン、ビリー・ブラッグが曲を付けたアルバム。
ウディ・ガスリーに関しては
自伝小説をハル・アシュビーが監督、
デヴィッド・キャラダインがガスリーを演じた
1976年の映画『ウディ・ガスリー/わが心のふるさと Bound Glory』
ぐらいでしか知らない。
ビリー・ブラッグに関しては
それに輪をかけるが如く"何も知らない"。
でも、件の一曲以外は一切知識もないままの鑑賞ながら
アルバム全体を包むムードに酔った。
ウディ・ガスリー自身の楽曲にもこの機会に触れてみたいと思う。

Eine gelungene Kollaboration. Hier finden sich solche "Hits" wie 'California Stars" und etliche mehr. Auch der Rest ist nicht bloss Füllmaterial. Sehr nett auch, dass man eben nicht in die Retro-Falle getappt ist und die Stücke in modernem "Gewand" aufgenommen hat. Falls man weder Wilco noch Billy Bragg bisher gekannt hat, wäre dieses Album ein guter Ausgangspunkt…

what can I say about BB that has not been said before .His singing voice is terrible but his lyrics can be very like a sharp knife through butter ,sometimes very astute ,sometimes they can even rhyme but always they are about something and well worth listening to even with that harsh voice
