With Black Sabbath gone Orange Goblin are probably the closest you'll now get. ..........Well, short of a tribute band which is not as original as this crew.
Imagine Sabbath with hints of Iron Maiden and Hendrix plus a big dollop of their own sound chances are this little known band will suit you. Pretty high quality production too.
Someone else commented that this album was similar to Black Sabbath's Volume 4 and I would absolutely agree with that comparison. If you enjoy Sabbath classics such as Wheels of Confusion/The Straightener, Tomorrow's Dream, Cornucopia and Under the Sun/Every Day Comes and Goes, you'll love Orange Goblin's "Frequencies From Planet Ten". As mentioned by others, the album is dominated by heavy/fuzzy grooves that will cause your head to bob up and down uncontrollably. They also add keyboards and wah-pedals in some places that create a psychadelic/outer-space feeling to enhance the mood of the track. Vocally, I would say it sounds like Rob Zombie singing Ozzy's songs at a faster tempo......but that's all in the eye of the beholder.
This album further proves you can create a metal album without loading up solely on 16th-notes and over-the-top solos.
