I order music on a whim, if I know something of the Members of the Group playing the music. I win with this one. Danny Kortchmar is the name to go with here. Cowriting all the pieces and the guitar and programming, I assume it is like producing in the studio with the equipment being high tech recording and all, is supurb. The music is wild and has so much more than just the playing and the vocals, which are really the Funk of this compilation. If you like the soul in it's got soul stuff the group really has it together. I won't name song names but if you go to my rating in Windows Media Player, It rates above 4 stars for every song. I will listen to this every day or so for a long time. Get it! Interesting and fun.
Bought this on spec. Great post-modern blues album. If you like Little Axe and similar, you'll love this. Very addictive. Sort of cross between Howling Wolf and Jump Blues brought up to date with tape loops and samples. Luvvit!

Or Fruity Loops or something. Offhand that's my first impression. This album still is rich with that blues goodness, but there have been obvious attempts at integrating loops, sampled drums, and a synth here or there (Man Who Gave His self teh Blues) into this blues act. Not a terrible job of it, compared to a lot of the bilge I've listened to in the computer music category, but still a bit rough. Some of the loops sound like they were taken from poor samples, or were over-processed, and OTOH others sound like an exciting new venture into a fusion of blues and hip-hop or whatever. Call it Bluse and remember herr frog told you, with an absurdly large gold chain around his slimy, rubbery green neck.
If you liked the first Slo Leak cd, you will like this too, or at least some of it. Myself, I would tell them to try again, because I really like their music. Even if I fault the execution regarding the computer stuff, I liked every single song here, and that is more than I would say for the first record. I hope they keep it up. Party, live it up, and keep those nice tunes coming! More! More!
Heard "Psychic Blues" on the radio , this afternoon, and thought it was an undiscovered Howlin Wolf, or Muddy Waters tune. Amazon, as usual, has every obscure or hard to find title I've ever looked for , and it will be great to hear the rest of this cd.
