一押しのベスト三枚組

Isley Bothersは様々なベストが出ていますが、この三枚組が選曲、音質ともに最高です。
本作が出た頃、Isleyが大好きと仰る山下達郎さん「素晴らしいリマスター音質と選曲」と絶賛されていました。
1957～1996までの代表曲が実にいい流れ（曲順）で納められています。何度聴いても飽きません！
特にDisc1は結構コレクターズアイテム的なセットになっています。
ブックレットもかなりしっかりしたものです。全50曲、捨て曲無しの素晴らしい内容です。
昨今は品薄のようですが、この三枚組は本当にオススメです。
*補足
DISC3に収録されている「Groove With You」「For The Love Of You」は未発表スタジオライブ
バージョンです。
このCDがリリースされて随分年月がたちますが、リマスター音質、音圧ともに最高です。
当方、アイズレーはかなりのカタログを所有していますが今でも結局これを一番よく聴いております。

音がいいしエンジェルスクライドなんかはどうなってるのかわからないくらい素晴らしいなあ

当時萩原健一さんの番組で紹介されてたのかな

三枚目に入ってるカーティスメイフィールド、インプレッションズのカバー「アイムソープラウド」が意外にぐっと来ます

カーティスのトリビュート盤に入ってたときには余り来なかったのに。不思議なものだ

ワークトゥードゥーとラブザワンユアウィズもさすがだけどライブバージョンのほうが良いかも

ほかにもこんな曲あったんやという曲がたくさんあってこれからまた13年くらいかけて理解してゆきたいと思う

CD3枚組みのBOXセット"It's Your Thing: The Story Of The Isley Brothers"。40年にも渡るThe Isley Brothersの歴史を一つにまとめたものではあるけれど、勿論の事不足は色々と生じてはくる。僕個人的には、こちらを買うよりは2004年発売の2枚組ベスト"The Essential Isley Brothers"を買った方が安いし良いのではないか？と思う。ただ、僕の大好きな"Groove With You"と、"Don't Say Goodnight (It's Time for Love)"がちゃんと収録されているのは大変嬉しい事だ。

最もベストとして価値がある楽曲は、Jimi Hendrixとの共演で知られる"Testify"が収録されている事。他にも"That Lady"の原型"Who's That Lady"が収録されていたり、なかなか手に入らない"Live at the Yankee Stadium"の音源も収録されている。こういったマニアックな音源から曲を引っ張って来れるのは3枚組という規模の大きさだからこそ、出来る業だと思う。

そういった事からも、どちらかと言うと初心者よりもディープなファンを対象にしたベスト盤だと僕は思っている。

This is by far the best Isley Brothers compilation you can buy, covering their evolution from late 50s rock'n'roll through a mid-60s association with Jimi Hendrix (the amazing Move Over And Let Me Dance is absolutely essential for Hendrix fans), then to Motown (only two tracks here due to licensing issues and Motown's tendency to straightjacket them into a Motown style that wasn't really theirs) and into a late-60s/early 70s heyday of tough, guitar heavy funk, fine ballads and unexpected covers (Fire And Rain). The third disc starts with the great Harvest For The World and continues through the 80s and into the 90s with some quality R&B ballads as Ronald Isley reinvents himself as a lurrve man to rival Marvin Gaye. Obviously this is cherry-picked - it's a compilation - but to maintain this standard across such a variety of styles for 40 years speaks of a deep and abiding talent. There really isn't anything here not worth a listen, and most of it is stunning. The vocals are amazing throughout. If you want to get a good overview of the Isleys' amazing journey through 4 decades of black American music, this is the place to get it. Great value.

I love this collection, contains all the great classics of this talented group. There may be two of them who are still active in the music world, but the music of the Isley Brothers remains evergreen and contemporary.

I bought this for my husband and it is great to hear some of the songs performed live and without music or some of the arrangemnts on the songs are different and it just opened up a new love for the Isley Brothers music for both him and me.
